Charge quickly, travel quickly: charging network with over 1,21 gigawatts

Not so long ago, an output of 1,21 gigawatts was associated with a journey through time on “Back to the Future”. Nowadays this is a lot easier, because this power is contained in a rapidly growing network of charging stations that can be used with the Porsche Taycan. A total of more than 1,21 gigawatts of power is now available via the Electrify America charging network and Ionity's European charging network. This was made possible by the rapid expansion of the associated infrastructure, which has made the networks the largest DC fast-charging networks of their kind in the USA and Europe. The stations are supplemented by a number of other publicly accessible charging networks from third-party providers. The entire network currently consists of 670 Electrify America and 372 Ionity charging locations with a total of more than 4.800 individual charging stations.

The Taycan can be charged from 22 percent to 800 percent in around 270 minutes thanks to 5-volt charging stations and a maximum charging power of 80 kW. This reduces the loading time and offers more time for traveling. In addition, the plug-and-charge function simplifies charging: As soon as the charging cable is plugged in, the charging process starts automatically - only with Mr. Fusion, the energy source of the DeLorean time machine in the film "Back to the Future", it still works easier. Charging is rounded off by the Porsche Charging Planner, which searches for a suitable charging station.

entertaining 60-second film

An entertaining 60-second film accompanies this message. It is aimed at fans of the film series "Back to the Future". The film was kindly made by Universal Studios LLC and Amblin Entertainment and directed by film producer JF Musial. The film pays tribute to the fact that the charging network of Electrify America and Ionity now exceeds 1,21 gigawatts of total output - and that coincidentally on today's Back to the Future Day (October 21 is the day that Marty McFly in “Back to the Future "travels into the future). The short film presents some surprises - for example actor and electric vehicle enthusiast Donald Fullilove in a guest role. In 1985, Fullilove played the ambitious and forward-thinking Goldie Wilson, who - inspired by Marty McFly - worked his way up from a cafe cleaner to Mayor of Hill Valley in Back to the Future.
