The developers came up with a rear rack solution for which they have already applied for a patent: the direct connection with the longitudinal profiles of the self-supporting body. This type of assembly, unique in the world, creates outstanding stability, which Porsche also tested as part of the overall vehicle testing of the Taycan Cross Turismo. Including high-speed test in Nardò. The extremely deep arrangement of the rear carrier from Porsche Tequipment minimizes its aerodynamic influence, which benefits the range. The assembly concept is very simple: remove two small panels in the rear apron, slide in the support tubes and turn them 45 degrees. Then put on the carrier and unfold it in three steps. Complete. And safe: because each step locks the previous one - and if the action is not carried out completely, the process cannot be continued.

"Poka Yoke", the term is borrowed from Japanese, is what engineers call such an error-eliminating principle. Porsche also uses it in vehicle assembly. Fastening the bicycles is also easy because with a rail spacing of 38 centimeters (instead of the 20 centimeters customary on the market), handlebars and pedals do not interfere. A loading ramp and curved spacers can also be ordered. The latter allow the perfect attachment of all frame geometries and the limited clamping force of the brackets also protects sensitive carbon frames. Of course, the trunk remains accessible when the rack is mounted. To do this, it can be folded away - elegantly and gently, as it is hydraulically dampened.

Mixed construction made of aluminum alloys

Thanks to the function- and weight-optimized mixed construction of aluminum alloys, high-strength steel and fiber-reinforced plastics, the construction is around 20 kilograms lighter than a conventional solution consisting of a rear rack and trailer coupling. The load capacity of 50 kilograms is usually enough for a third bicycle, which can be accommodated using an extension kit. This extra can be ordered later. With its small pack size (closed 26 × 75 × 89 centimeters), the carrier fits perfectly in the trunk, and Porsche Tequipment offers a practical bag as an option. Important: The preparation for the rear rack must be taken into account when ordering a new vehicle.
