Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo vs Monster Truck!

Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo vs Monster Truck!

At first glance, a Porsche Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo and a Monster Jam Truck don't seem to have much in common. One is equipped with two powerful electric motors, up to five seats, 20-inch wheels and advanced adaptive air suspension that enables instantaneous and silent transitions from comfort mode to agile handling. The other features a fire-breathing, methanol-fed V8 engine, massive 66-inch wheels, a single seat, and an interchangeable fiberglass body over a rugged and extremely strong tubular steel chassis, and twin-tube, nitrogen-filled hydraulic shock absorbers that absorb impact after a 20-meter jump, which – according to Linsey – occurs more frequently than expected.

And yet both are remarkably similar - at least when the road becomes a sand track. Both distribute power to all four wheels and have four-wheel steering, both have about the same acceleration from a standstill and have similar power-to-weight ratios. And last but not least, both have masters of their trade behind the wheel for this unusual test.

What follows is a somewhat chaotic but amusingly fast-paced performance. "To be honest, I didn't get to see Leh most of the time," says a beaming Linsey Read. “He had to drive around me, so I had to rely on him to keep enough distance. But based on the reactions, I can say that he managed surprisingly well to stay close to me – the Taycan is really good!”

"With a house in the running?"

“It felt like I was up against a house,” says Leh Keen as he climbs out of the Taycan. “The size of the Monster Jam truck is overwhelming. He hardly seems to be making an effort, but I look down and we're approaching triple-digit speeds — and that's on sand. He's very agile at such a size.” Keen kept his distance, and with good reason. “The Taycan was just great – it gave me a lot of feedback, had grip when I really needed it and made sure there was no shortage of fun. Thanks Linsey for inviting me - now I have to find a track big enough for her and her truck for the rematch..."
