World record: Polar TRV Concept once hammered to the South Pole!

The Polar TRV concept (Polar Expedition Concept) in NATO Green set a Guinness World Record for the fastest trip to the South Pole in 2011. Specifically, the still existing record applies to the "fastest overland trip to the South Pole". But to make this even possible, many changes were made to the vehicle. The basis for the conversion was set 2010 Toyota Tacoma. The idea was to create a vehicle that could reach the South Pole in record time. And the polar explorer Jason de Carteret set the Guinness world record. With the converted Tacoma, he put in 39 hours and 54 minutes a whopping 1.113 kilometers back across the Antarctic. The Polar TRV was developed for this in record time and the team from the Icelandic tuner was involved in the conversion at the time Arctic trucks. The specialists completely rebuilt the body and the heavily reinforced chassis with Koni shock absorbers and of course there were also massive 44 inches (1,12 m) Mickey Thompson Icepack tires, especially for the winter conditions at the South Pole.

The Tacoma also got one 1.500-liter fuel tank, two VIAIR air compressors, a Engine heating, there were four OMP sports seats, come HD cameras, two GPS systems and an insulated cabin with Roll cage. The tuned Tacoma was powered by one Four-liter TRD supercharged engine with 380 PS. The conversion of the pickup named "Antarctica / polar“By the way, it cost around $ 400.000 (+353.000 EUR) and was therefore not exactly a bargain. But it was definitely worth it.
