It's hard to believe, but this 1981 Pontiac Trans Am went into an incredible $ 300.000. And of course it's not just a matter of a restored Copy, but rather a so-called "Restomod-Vehicle"! That means under the classic sheet metal from almost 40 years ago there is modern technology. And plenty of it! Virtually every detail has been replaced and, from a technical point of view, the Trans AM has nothing to do with the original. Incidentally, the vehicle was created under the project name "Full Force Trans Am“And the absolute highlight are an insane 1.300 hp that a new engine mobilizes in contrast to the factory 201 hp of the original. That corresponds to an increase in performance of easily 650% !!! The makers of the one-off have the factory 301-cu.in. V8 kicked out and replaced with a modern LS9 V8 from the Corvette ZR1.

a lot of tuning on the LS9-V8 from the ZR1

But as the key data already suggest, the engine has been extensively revised. The V8 was drilled out to 6,9 liters and received two powerful turbochargers. There was also one Dry sump lubrication, a 4-inch intake system with Specter filters, a 3,0-inch exhaust manifold and a large Be Cool aluminum cooler with two SPAL fans cools the engine. By the way, a Bowler 4L85E automatic is coupled to the engine Overdrive-Function and Wavetrac 3.70 gears. The team from "Schwartz Performance" in Woodstock (Illinois / USA) put the Pontiac on its feet by hand in countless hours of work and it is now on the platform Mecum Auctions for sale at an estimated price of $ 300.000. An aluminum rear from Winters is also installed and the tuner relies on completely individually adjustable coilovers for the chassis.

And of course, the tremendous performance has to be slowed down appropriately. This is achieved with a king-size brake system with perforated 14 inch (approx. 36 cm) brake discs and 6-piston brake calipers from Baer at the front and rear. It is hidden behind a set of individually painted Forgeline Snowflake rims in the 19 inch format with a chrome-plated rim base and covered with Michelin slippers. The rest of the bright white painted body is rather inconspicuous. There are no major differences to the series for the layman. Just a few things that were deemed useless like that page marks front and rear were eliminated. On the hood there was of course the obligatory “fire eagle” and the reference to “Turbo 6.9”. And of course the cabin has also been extensively undertaken.

the cabin has also been extensively upgraded

Inside, too, everything is in the condition of a new car and adapted to the present. There is a Tiger Cage roll bar from RideTech, black leather-covered Procar Scat Rally 1000 bucket seats, a Magnum Vintage Air Gen IV air conditioning system and a digital instrument cluster for an overview of all important data from the engine and vehicle. And the potent classic has already won a lot of prizes. For example, the “Muscle Car of the Year” Avard from Popular Hot Rodding in 2013. And finally ... Money in the postage box? Then bid!
