Off-road sports car with winning genes: Porsche 911 Dakar (992)!

What immediately catches the eye with the Porsche 911 Dakar is its ground clearance: it is 50 millimeters higher on the Dakar than on a 911 Carrera with sports suspension. Furthermore, the standard lift system can raise the front and rear of the vehicle by a further 30 millimeters. The ground clearance and ramp angle thus reach the level of classic SUVs. The lift system is not only used for slowly crossing obstacles, but is an integral part of the newly tuned chassis. The "high level" setting is available up to a speed of 170 km/h for ambitious off-road driving. If this speed is exceeded, the car automatically lowers itself back to the normal level.

The specially developed Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus tires match the sporty off-road appearance, measuring 245/45 ZR 19 at the front and 295/40 ZR 20 at the rear. The coarse profile has a depth of nine millimeters, the reinforced side walls and the treads consist of two carcass layers. This means that the tires on the Porsche 911 Dakar are also suitable for challenging off-road conditions and have a high level of cut resistance. Pirelli P Zero summer and winter tires are optionally available, also with two carcass layers. However, the all-terrain tire is used as standard, which also offers the dynamics typical of a sports car on asphalt.

Confident drive on all surfaces

The three-liter biturbo six-cylinder with 480 hp (353 kW) and a maximum torque of 570 Newton meters delivers superior driving performance with a present and emotional boxer sound. From a standing start, it accelerates the new sports car to 3,4 km/h in 100 seconds, and the top speed is limited to 240 km/h due to the all-terrain tires. The engine is coupled to an eight-speed PDK and the Porsche all-wheel drive as standard.

In addition, the rear axle steering, the engine mounts from the 911 GT3 and the roll stabilization PDCC are part of the standard scope. The interaction of all components enables the 911 Dakar to be just as dynamic on sand and gravel as it is on the Nordschleife. Two new driving modes, which can be selected using the rotary switch on the steering wheel, also ensure maximum off-road performance. Rally mode is suitable for loose, uneven ground, with all-wheel drive designed to be particularly rear-heavy.

In off-road mode, the high level is activated automatically. This mode is designed for maximum traction in rough terrain and sand. The new Rallye Launch Control can also be activated in both new driving modes: it ensures impressive acceleration on loose surfaces and allows wheel slip of around 20 percent.

Optionally with roof basket or roof tent and chronograph from Porsche Design

Other distinguishing features of the 911 Dakar are the newly developed, fixed lightweight rear spoiler made of CFRP and the CFRP front hood, taken from the 911 GT3, with distinctive air vents. In addition, there are typical off-road details as standard, such as the red, aluminum forged eyelets at the front and rear, the widened wheel arches and sills, and the protective elements made of stainless steel at the front, rear and sills. In addition, the side air intakes on the newly designed front are protected from stone chips with stainless steel grilles.

The roof of the Porsche 911 Dakar has a visible 12-volt power connection for the headlights of the optional roof basket. With a payload of 42 kilograms, it can easily accommodate the typical rally accessories such as petrol and water canisters, folding spades and recovery boards. A roof tent is also available for the 911 Dakar. In the interior, the 911 Dakar underscores its sporty aspirations with standard bucket seats and the omission of rear seats.

Lightweight glazing and a lightweight battery further reduce the weight, so that at 911 kilograms the Porsche 1.605 Dakar is only ten kilograms heavier than a 911 Carrera 4 GTS with PDK. A clear distinguishing feature in the Dakar interior is the standard Racetex equipment with decorative stitching in the color Shadegreen, which is also available as a metallic exterior paint finish exclusively for the 911 Dakar. The Rallye Sport package with roll bar, six-point belts and fire extinguisher is available as an option.

Rally design package with the look of the Dakar winning vehicle from 1984

The core of the optional Rallye Design package from Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur is a two-tone paint finish in white/gentian blue metallic. Here, for the first time, Porsche is implementing the combination of two-tone paintwork and decorative foiling in series production. On the side of the vehicle, the customer can choose an individual start number between "0" and "999". In addition to the rally stripes in red and gold, the 911 Dakar with Rally Design Package, whose look is based on the winning vehicle of the 1984 Paris-Dakar Rally, also has the "Roughroads" lettering on the doors.

The term is protected as a brand name and reflects the concept of the 911 Dakar and its suitability for off-road use. The white painted rims and the rear light strip, which is red in contrast to the standard vehicle, round off the independent appearance. There are further highlights in the interior: Extended Race-Tex and leather items as well as seat belts and accents in shark blue.

Porsche design chronograph

Customers of the 911 Dakar can exclusively order the Porsche Design Chronograph 1 - 911 Dakar or the Chronograph 1 - 911 Dakar Rallye Design Edition to match the vehicle. For the first time, the case is made of particularly scratch-resistant and lightweight titanium carbide. The new Porsche 911 Dakar can now be ordered at a price of €222.020 including VAT. The rally design package costs €26.061 including VAT.
