SPORTEC CLASSIC presents Restomod Porsche 964 "FERDINAND"!

SPORTEC-CLASSIC loves the Porsche veterans. With FERDINAND, the people from Zurich deliver their masterpiece based on the Porsche 964. But not only that. FERDINAND establishes its own series for backdate restomod conversions! Means: Absolutely unique, classic, sporty, trimmed for lightness and built for every moment on the road. The world premiere at the Auto Zürich, which will open its doors from November 10th to 13.11.2022th, XNUMX, should not be missed.

Restomod Porsche 964 "FERDINAND"

The SPORTEC know-how from 25 years of tuning, motorsport and Porsche Classic flows into the FERDINAND. A project that is now ready for series production. "With FERDINAND we surpass ourselves," says SPORTEC CEO Gregor Burkard. “All of our know-how from all areas of the company has been bundled into one whole in this new series. Each model can hardly be surpassed in terms of exclusivity. In this way, every customer gets a unique vehicle that is individually tailored to their needs.» To do this, the people of Zurich rely on the highest quality – in all areas. The SPORTEC performance approach has been consistently implemented and is evident both in the driving characteristics and in the design language.

Wider, lighter and more distinctive optics

The uncompromising start of the conversion begins with a Porsche 964 body shell. The entire vehicle and each individual part is rebuilt from scratch. The shapely rebirth of the Porsche 964 is 30 millimeters wide on each side compared to the standard body. Various body elements made of lightweight materials ensure the sporty and unmistakable outfit. The significantly tougher and stiffer components complement FERDINAND perfectly. The two bumpers, the roof, the bonnet, the boot lid and the wheel arches are all made of lightweight carbon/kevlar. The mechanical strength, impact resistance, dimensional stability and abrasion resistance of the FERDINAND experience a significant increase. Of course, daytime running lights and bi-LED headlights should not be missing.

Individual interior

The attention to detail of the SPORTEC men is particularly noticeable in the interior. Switches milled from aluminum, rotary knobs, an inductive charging station for a smartphone and switches are self-constructions. The two steering column switches as well as the gear knob shine - also milled from aluminum - in a sporty design. They convince with an exquisite feel and provide a modern flair. The built-in multimedia system convinces with simple operation. DAB radio, Apple CarPlay, the aforementioned inductive charging station for smartphones and a USB connection round off the modern multimedia functions.

And with the high-end sound system, which is individually tailored to the interior of FERDINAND, you can enjoy all kinds of music. The individualized and analogue instruments, which provide information from the leather-clad cockpit, keep all important driving data clearly available for the FERDINAND driver. He/she and his/her co-pilot also feel safe in the SPORTEC seats with perfect lateral support and individually upholstered seats. The difference lies in the detail - many holes in the aluminum components in the interior were deliberately drilled with a diameter of 9 mm or 11 mm to save weight. The numbers are reminiscent of the 911 series.

High speed sucker

Freshly built and with a displacement increase to 3,8 liters, the new heart beats in the FERDINAND. The selected material properties of all components ensure lasting pleasure and the valves are effectively set in motion by built-in sports camshafts. Forged Mahle pistons provide their service with corresponding accuracy. The 325 hp and 394 Nm of torque resulting from the increase in displacement have an easy time with the FERDINAND, which weighs only around 1190 kilograms (depending on the specification).

The air mass is measured more precisely in the intake area and transmitted to the optimized engine control unit without delay. The sports clutch and short shifter do the rest to ensure that the sporty feeling is not neglected. Finally, a stainless steel sports exhaust converts the burned mixture into purebred GT3 sound. A short-ratio six-speed gearbox with limited-slip differential is available as an option.

Sporty on the go

A chassis set-up suitable for everyday use with a variable lowering of 10 to 30 millimeters ensures driving comfort. The precise shock absorbers of the ten-way adjustable coilover suspension - combined with optimized bearings on all handlebars - ensure a sporty, direct driving experience that puts a big grin on your face, also due to the high cornering speeds. The chassis setup, which was developed by the three-time Le Mans winner Marcel Fässler, allows a set-up that enables greater cornering stability and more spontaneous steering behavior.

The gain in track width is skilfully converted into better road holding, which at the same time results in more precise controllability. Form-fitting 17-inch Fuchs wheels also provide more grip and guarantee safe contact with the asphalt. Speaking of safety: The SPORTEC upgrade sports brake with perforated discs (Ø FA/RA 320/298 mm) stands for efficient deceleration.

Guaranteed individuality

  • In the end, FERDINAND has the status of a new car and is optimally tailored to the needs of SPORTEC customers. This makes each example of the future FERDINAND clan an exclusive one-off that will delight its proud owner every day. Especially since all parts are homologated for the Swiss market. In short: Based on the Porsche 964, FERDINAND offers driving dynamics, design and interior processing at the highest level.
