A Porsche 911 of the 996 generation is still controversial among Porsche fans today, as it polarizes extremely with its fried egg headlights. The increase in value of a 996 is therefore limited, because the generation is not only controversial in terms of design, but also heralded the departure from the air-cooled boxer engine, as it relied on water cooling for the first time in favor of lower exhaust emissions. But now we come to this 996, which we present to you today, because this copy was not only made with a widebody kit from the Japanese tuning company Departure tuning defaced, but also comes with a horrible film in our eyes. The melange is over JDM tuning and Porsche doesn't work at all in our opinion, but like any tuning, this style is of course a matter of taste.

Horror shocker - only as a rendering

The 996 does not actually drive on the streets of this world, but is only a rendering, which was created by Photoshop artist "mick_em_all“Was created. The 996's widebody kit is inspired by the Veilside look made famous by the Mazda RX-7 featured in the movie Fast and Furious - Tokyo Drift played the leading role in the automobile. In addition, in our opinion, the extreme drop center rims with their unusual three-spoke optics do not really match the future classic, which is unfortunately often wrongly misunderstood. Also the Flat nose look, which is reminiscent of the blissful Porsche 935, may not really fit this specimen, because the whole body kit looks quite interesting to say the least, but without appearing harmonious. The side line, which consists of various light edges, an extra-wide sill and beading, which creates the impression of a handicraft shack that was cobbled together in a backyard workshop, looks most inappropriate. According to the creator of the rendering, the body kit was inspired by the Abflug S900 model, which was designed for the JZA80 version of the Toyota Supra MK4 and saw the light of day in 2001. At every tuning meeting in the world, such a visual modification would provide plenty of talking point, and definitely split people's minds.

Buy a departure body kit for a lot of money

The body kit can even be purchased for an almost outrageous $ 10.500, and belongs to the Supra Mk IV. Anyone who spontaneously thought that they would like the part on a Porsche 911 of the 996 generation can take the trouble, and make yourself build such a project car in case he plans to modify a 996. In our opinion, however, it would be even more blasphemy if a Porsche tuner seriously came up with the idea of planting a 2JZ Toyota in-line six-cylinder engine in his 996. As good as the Toyota engine is, there are just some cars that do Engine swap is absolutely doomed. A Porsche 911 is definitely one of them, as the incomparable boxer engine, coupled with its sound, has made a significant contribution to the 911 legend.
