Have you ever dated Porsche B32 (VoPo) heard? That was a T3 Bullic as a power cuboid! And it was officially offered for sale in the 80s. However, with the creation of the B32 nothing to do. Nevertheless, the Porsche bus was something like the unofficial coronation of the T3 series. And current vehicles are likely to be many times more valuable than a comparable 911. But what kind of bus was that actually? At that time, Porsche officially implanted one in the T3 Engine from the Porsche 911 Carrera. However, the “Sport Bulli” remained an absolute mini-series. However, each of the vehicles built had the ability to easily transport a maximum of 6 occupants at 185 km / h on the motorway. The B32 VW T3 Bulli had one Porsche chassis number and was already the crowd puller at the Bremen Classic Motor Show.

Why did the Porsche B32 exist?

But why was the vehicle actually being built in the early 80s? The project was brought to life by Porsche Research Director Helmuth Bott (1925-1994) after a souped-up VW Bulli was used as a Escort vehicle had proven its suitability in regular test operations at the time. This vehicle was the starting shot for 15 (or 18, we don't know for sure) other vehicles! Twelve of which had a Porsche chassis number and three one from Volkswagen.

And all vehicles were complete everyday use. So there were the comfortable VW armchairs, a folding conference table on request and a hissing one in the rear Carrera engine. Plus one more Air conditioning and even one Stationary heating system. And the fact that the majority of the vehicles were given the Porsche chassis number showed how serious the matter was despite the huge purchase price 145.000 marks was.

more than twice as expensive as a 911 Carrera 3.2

After all, there was loose for this sum two Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 (New price at that time 66.950 marks). However, far fewer people can ride in the 911. And such a potent Caravelle bus was also viiiiiiiiiel cooler than a normal Porsche XNUMX. So it was no wonder that the handful of vehicles with 231 hp boxer including the gearbox and many parts of the Porsche chassis aroused great interest.

Only the shifting travel, which was a bit too long, and the rear axle with drum brakes took some getting used to. Regardless, only the driver and co-driver sat in the B32, then the set-up was even suitable for the circuit. And the enormous ease of turning, the sound and the space for six people plus luggage were absolute one-time.

planned: all-wheel-drive bus with 959 drive train

Too bad it's the B32 Westfalia Joker or the planned one All-wheel drive bus with 959 drivetrain not made it into a small series. With thoroughbred Group B technology in the Bulli, the ultimate goosebumps would have been guaranteed! But unfortunately the project was never realized.
