High-performance SUV with 640 PS: Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT

Porsche crowns the Cayenne model series with a top athlete: Consistently tuned for maximum longitudinal and lateral performance, the new Cayenne Turbo GT combines exceptional driving dynamics with a high degree of suitability for everyday use. The 471 kW (640 PS) four-liter V8 biturbo engine forms the basis for outstanding driving characteristics. 67 kW (90 PS) more than in the Cayenne Turbo Coupé and 850 Nm torque (plus 80 Nm) shorten the standard sprint to 3,3 seconds (minus 0,6 s), the top speed increases to 300 km / h (plus 14 km / h) H). The Cayenne Turbo GT, which is also optically sportier and is only available as a four-seater coupé, comes with all available suspension systems and performance tires specially developed for it as standard.

The drive and chassis are independently coordinated. The result is a harmonious overall concept with excellent circuit properties. Porsche test driver Lars Kern provided proof of this by driving the 20,832 km long Nürburgring Nordschleife with the Cayenne Turbo GT lapped in 7: 38,9 minutes and thus achieved a new official SUV record. Compared to the Cayenne Turbo Coupé, the body of the Turbo GT is up to 17 millimeters lower. Building on this, both the passive chassis components and the active control systems were revised, optimized for lateral and longitudinal dynamics and their interaction specially calibrated. For example, the rigidity of the three-chamber air suspension has been increased by up to 15 percent and the damper characteristics of Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and the application of Power Steering Plus and rear-axle steering have been adapted.

The active roll stabilization Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) now works with performance-oriented control software. The result is an even higher roll stability, better road connection and more precise steering behavior at higher cornering speeds. The Porsche torque vectoring allows higher locking levels to match. The comprehensively optimized front axle also improves handling. The front rims are one inch wider than the Turbo Coupé and the negative camber has been increased by 0,45 degrees in order to give the Pirelli P Zero Corsa 22-inch performance tire, specially developed for the Turbo GT, more contact area. The Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) is used for deceleration ex works.

Tiptronic S with shortened shift times and sports exhaust system made of titanium

The biturbo engine of the Cayenne Turbo GT is currently the most powerful eight-cylinder unit from Porsche. The most extensive optimizations were made to the crank drive, turbocharging, gasoline direct injection as well as intake and charge air cooling. Inside the engine, the V8 of the Turbo GT differs from the Turbo Coupé in basic elements such as the crankshaft, the connecting rod, the pistons, the timing chain drive and the torsional vibration dampers. In view of the increased output to 471 kW (640 PS), these components are designed for higher load peaks and improved driving dynamics.

The eight-speed Tiptronic S with shorter shift times and Porsche Traction Management (PTM) have also been adapted. The latter has an additional water cooling system for the transfer case. The standard sports exhaust system with centrally positioned tailpipes is a custom-made product for the Cayenne Turbo GT. From the middle of the vehicle, the exhaust system including the rear silencer is made of light and particularly heat-resistant titanium. An additional weight saving results from the omission of the middle silencer.

Sporty equipment: lots of carbon on the outside, lots of Alcantara on the inside

The Cayenne Turbo GT, optionally painted in the new color Arctic Gray, underscores its sporty exceptional position with a progressive design with special features. A GT-specific front section with a distinctive spoiler lip and enlarged side cooling inlets characterize the independent front view. The contoured carbon roof and the black wheel arch extensions, together with the 22-inch GT design wheels in Neodyme color, dominate the side view.

GT-specific are the carbon sideplates on the roof spoiler and the spoiler lip on the adaptively extending rear spoiler, which is 25 millimeters larger than the turbo. This increases the contact pressure at top speed by up to 40 kilograms. The rear view is rounded off by a pronounced diffuser panel made of carbon.

Debut in the Turbo GT: new infotainment system for the Cayenne

The sporty character of the Cayenne Turbo GT is underlined by the high-quality standard equipment with expanded Alcantara features in the interior. Eight-way sports seats at the front and a sports rear seat system with two seats are standard, each GT-specific with perforated seat centers in Alcantara, contrasting accents in neodyme or arctic gray and "turbo GT" lettering on the headrests. As is typical for sports cars, there is a yellow 12 o'clock mark on the multifunction sports steering wheel. Depending on the choice of decor, selected accent strips are finished in matt black.

With the Turbo GT, the next generation of Porsche Communication Management (PCM) is making its debut in the Cayenne with improved performance, a new user interface and new operating logic. As before, PCM 6.0 is fully compatible with Apple CarPlay, but now also enables deep integration of Apple Music and Apple Podcasts. In addition, the infotainment system now also integrates Android Auto. This means that all common smartphones can be integrated. The Cayenne Turbo GT can be ordered now and will be available at dealers in mid-September 2021. Prices in Germany start at 196.078 euros including VAT and country-specific equipment.
