Porsche Taycan is the new Formula E safety car!

A Porsche with a claim to leadership: When the Taycan with its striking design leaves the pit lane and onto the track in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, it is soon at the front of the field. The first all-electric sports car from Porsche this season is the new safety car in the innovative electric racing series. It celebrates its premiere on the racetrack at the start of the Formula E season on April 28/29. January in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia. The Porsche Taycan Turbo S is intended to be more than just the safety vehicle for the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. Its eye-catching livery, which features the colors of all eleven teams as well as the FIA ​​and Formula E, symbolizes the commitment of everyone involved to Formula E and the common path to the all-electric future of motorsport. At the same time, it visualizes social values ​​such as diversity and community. The number 22 recognizes the performance of the 22 drivers competing this season.

We also hope that this will also enable us to appeal to younger target groups who are not yet motorsport fans.”

With its drivability and safety as well as its output of up to 560 kW (761 hp; Taycan Turbo S: power consumption* combined (WLTP) 25,6 - 24,3 kWh/100 km, CO₂ emissions* combined (WLTP) 0 g/km , power consumption* combined (NEDC) 28,5 kWh/100 km, CO₂ emissions* combined (NEDC) 0 g/km), the high-performance Taycan Turbo S sports car has the best prerequisites for its important use as a safety car in Formula E. The only all-electric world championship in motorsport holds its races in metropolises such as London, Berlin, Mexico City, New York, Monaco and Seoul. The top model of the Taycan series accelerates from 2,8 – 0 km/h in 100 seconds with Launch Control and reaches a top speed of 260 km/h.

When converting the Porsche Taycan Turbo S into a safety car, roll bars and racing bucket seats with six-point belts were installed, and cable harnesses for the safety car lighting and the Marelli logger system were installed. Flashing lights were integrated into the bumpers. The new workplace of Bruno Correia (Portugal), the long-standing FIA Formula E safety car driver, was also equipped with a fire extinguisher and a high-tech communication system. As a result, the security vehicle meets all the requirements for use in such a competitive racing series as the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.
