With the new A45 AMG, Mercedes has set the bar extremely high for the competition. The absolute highlight is of course the completely newly developed M 139 - 2,0-liter engine as the most powerful four-cylinder turbo ever produced for large-scale production. It is available in two power and torque levels and, as a basic model, delivers 285 kW (387 hp). As an S variant, there is even a mighty 310 kW (421 hp) that is powered by the AMG eight-speed dual clutch transmission and the AMG Performance 4MATIC + all-wheel drive (distributes the power on the rear axle selectively by wheel control) take to the streets. Nice gimmicks such as the drift mode and the new rear axle drive with two multi-plate clutches set the A45 further apart from its competitors. And the team at POSAIDON GmbH & Co KG from Mülheim-Kärlich has just got their hands on such a brand new W177-AMG A 45 S 4MATIC + example and subjected it to a huge increase in performance.
A 45 RS 525 with 525 PS & 600 NM
The upgrade is available for the A 45 and A 45 S, which help the 2,0-liter to generate significantly more steam by means of a two-stage increase in performance. As the top model "A 45 RS 525", the currently strongest in-house interpretation of the 45 is blessed with huge 525 PS & 600 NM torque. Expressed in numbers, the additional 104 PS and 100 NM are elicited by the tuner by installing a more efficient upgrade turbocharger and in-house chip tuning of the engine control unit. At the same time, the software for the AMG SPEEDSHIFT transmission was optimized and the drive train (CPC) was also adapted to the additional power. After all, the components now have to endure a lot more because the Posaidon A 45 RS AMG shoots from a standing start to 100 km / h in just 3,4 seconds (series 3,9) and reaches a top speed of 324 km / h. For comparison: A 585 PS and 700 Nm strong AMG GT R needs 3,6 seconds to 100 km / h and drops the sails "already" at 318 km / h.
And no less spectacular is POSAIDON's smaller version, which only dispenses with the upgrade of the turbocharger. But with the mentioned software optimizations alone, Posaidon still achieves an output of 465 HP and 560 Nm and thus enables a top speed of 318 km / h and a 0-100 km / h time of 3,6 seconds. These are exactly the key data of the AMG GT R with M 178 DE 40 AL Biturbo-V8 already mentioned. By the way, TÜV reports are already in progress for both variants and as an absolute highlight you would even like to see a third expansion stage soon Stage 3 present. Its potential performance is still secret, but we assume that the range from 560 to 580 HP and a good 650 to 700 NM will be kept in view. In general, the changes to the A45 are not yet finished.

In the future, a high-performance brake system, various sports exhaust systems from catalytic converter or even from a turbocharger are planned, and the in-house 8,5 × 20 inch full-carbon wheel Evolution One will soon be available for the AMG A 45 / A 45 S. By the way: The increase in performance is also suitable for other vehicles with the M 139 engine. The 45 series of the CLA series C118 (four-door coupe), from the X118 (Shooting Brake) and the compact GLA 45 SUV can be equipped with it. And even the not yet officially available GLA 45 S of the H247 series can enjoy a significant increase in performance on the part of Posaidon.
