It is a complete success - the new Audi R8 4S. The second generation of the R8 is based on the same platform as the Lamborghini Huracán, which has been in production since 2014. And otherwise a lot is identical to the Italian. However, production takes place in the new Audi Sport factory in Heilbronn's industrial area Böllinger Höfe and compared to its predecessor, the 4S has significantly more rough edges. The front and rear sections have been redesigned, making the body look somehow more grown-up and even sportier than its predecessor. And the R8 4S doesn't just look like it, it is. After all, the vehicle weight has been reduced by 50 kg and the rigidity has even increased by 40%. The highlight is of course the further developed 5,2-liter V10 mid-engine which is offered in two power variants with either 397 kW (540 PS) or 449 kW (610 PS). And while the technology is basically beyond all doubt, the optics can still be helped a bit. At least if the German company Prior Design has its way.
The guys from Kamp-Lintfort presented their latest prank and that refers to the R8. A complete widebody kit is now available for the 4S. The whole thing is called PD800 (PD800WB) aerodynamic kit and consists of a high-quality fiberglass-Dura-Flex mixture. The material has a particularly high-quality surface structure and offers sufficient flexibility with the best stability. For the R8 it consists of a distinctive and completely redeveloped bonnet including air intake and a subtle frame that visually underlines the front bumper. In addition, a front spoiler sword was developed that gives the front an even more aggressive appearance. Right & left there is front widening that merge into a pair of front fenders including side gills.
A new pair of side skirts must not be missing, which continues the shape of the new fenders and is integrated into the beefy rear extensions. And the rear has also been significantly modified because there is, for example, an additional frame for the rear bumper, an aggressive rear diffuser and of course here right & left attachments for the bumper. The aerodynamic package fits perfectly to the Ingolstadt athlete and, especially with the metallic gray paintwork, looks extremely exclusive and never exaggerated. Of course, the PD3FORGED wheelset in an estimated 21 inches, which thanks to an H&R coilover kit, fits perfectly in the wider wheel arches, also has a large share.
And who wants to can also order various modifications for the interior. For example, there are on request completely new leather or aluminum pedals and other details. And of course, other wheelsets or various sports exhaust systems are available. Next ABT Sportsline Prior Design has now expanded its range for the R8 with a very extensive body kit and thus offers a chic alternative to ABT. If we get more information about the modifications to the R8, there will of course, as always, be an update for this report.
