For the upcoming Chinese Rally Championship, the English racing manufacturer Prodrive has pimped the current Golf 7 into a tough rally car. In contrast to the series is now ample spoiler work available paired with four-wheel drive and more than 300PS. Perfect conditions to be a stick-hard racing machine.

The weight has been reduced Prodrive neatly by removing everything that was unnecessary without hesitation. With a total weight of only 1.150kg you can imagine that it was as good as any built-in series part. The 2.0 liter engine is now forcibly breathed by a Garret turbocharger and delivers via 300PS.
The majority of the parts now installed came from the WRC range of the Mini WRC and includes, for example, a roll bar and a huge carbon rear spoiler, sleek bucket seats including six-point seat belts, front and rear aprons, a fire extinguishing system and a racing tank.
Prodrive already has experience in this area because Subaru and Mini have had to undergo a similar “cure” so far. At the moment, the area of operation is limited to the Chinese championship, which starts next weekend. Actually nothing speaks against other areas of application such as North America or Europe.
