Renault without Phoenix Mobility are converting combustion engines to electric cars!

The Renault Group and the French company Phoenix Mobility have signed a letter of intent for a strategic partnership. The goal is the joint development of a retrofit kit that enables a commercial vehicle with a combustion engine to be converted to an electric drive. The first phase of the partnership, in the form of a "Proof of Concept", consists of a joint development phase with the aim of launching a first Renault Master kit before the end of 2023 and of marketing and installing around 1.000 of these packages. Business customers should get to know the advantages of the retrofit concept such as electric driving comfort, environmental friendliness and also economic advantages. The partners also plan to extend the innovative solution to other models.

When manufacturing the kits, the Renault Group draws on the industrial know-how of the Re-Factory in Flins, a location geared towards the circular economy. Phoenix Mobility oversees the commercial operation – the company already has extensive experience in the B2B aftermarket.

"The Renault Group is once again positioning itself as a pioneer in the development of an innovative solution in a market that is still in its infancy and shows great potentialsays François Delion, Renault Group After Sales Director. "DThe partnership with Phoenix Mobility is the first collaboration between a car manufacturer and a promising start-up company with the aim of launching a new commercial offer on the after-sales market, thereby meeting our customers' needs for more sustainable and economical mobility solutions ."

Wadie Maaninou, Founder and CEO of Phoenix Mobility: “Phoenix Mobility, pioneer and market leader in the conversion of public and commercial fleets for three years, continues its industrialization strategy thanks to this strategic partnership with Renault Group. This will enable us to quickly meet the growing market demand."
