World premiere in wild water: The completely new model generation of the Range Rover Sport is arriving – with the first successful, spectacular defeat of a flooded dam outlet in Iceland. The new Range Rover Sport braves oncoming torrential torrents, rushing down the valley at 750 tons per minute, on a breathtaking journey up the dam of Karahnjukar Dam. A loss of traction on the incline, which can be as steep as 40 degrees, could have dramatic consequences, but the new Range Rover Sport masters this extreme challenge and proves that it is made of very special cloth. The third generation of the luxury performance SUV is nothing more and nothing less than the most desirable, technically advanced and capable member of the range. Impressive road presence is combined with instinctive handling, for which a comprehensive portfolio of the most modern chassis technologies is responsible. Order books for the new Range Rover Sport are now open. The list of recommended retail prices starts at 93.000 euros.

The successful completion of a dam ascent in Iceland was demonstrated for the first time during an exclusive launch event at Jaguar Land Rover's Advanced Product Creation Center in Gaydon, England. The official James Bond stunt driver Jessica Hawkins demonstrated at the steering wheel of the new Range Rover Sport what level of grip, traction, performance and sovereignty the third model generation brings with it. The Range Rover Sport thus continues the series of spectacular stunts. In the past, he had already completed a record run on the legendary mountain racetrack at Pikes Peak in the USA - or crossed the "Empty Quarter" in the Rub al-Chali desert on the Arabian Peninsula, also in a new best time. In 2018, the Range Rover Sport also became the first vehicle to climb the 999 steps to "Heaven's Gate" on Tianmen Mountain in China.

Nick Collins, Executive Director Vehicle Programs at Jaguar Land Rover, says: “Land Rover's pioneering MLA Flex platform and state-of-the-art chassis systems enable the new Range Rover Sport to achieve a level of dynamism never before seen even in this range. The Integrated Chassis Control System controls the extensive range of innovations - it coordinates everything from the latest advancement in air suspension with adjustable volume to our electronic active roll stabilization Dynamic Response Pro. The result is the most engaging and exciting Range Rover Sport ever.”

The particularly steep dam run-off at Karahnjukar reservoir provided the final hurdle for the new Range Rover Sport as it traveled from the valley to the dam's summit, passing through a flooded river bed, long steep tunnels and the 40 degree steep dam itself. On the 294m route of the dam run-off, the water tumbled down 90 m in wild cascades and put the driver's traction and confidence to the test.

Stunt driver Jessica Hawkins says: “If you look down into the valley from the side, the power of the flowing water is breathtaking. If you then drive in and realize that in the worst case scenario a 90 meter fall awaits you, then this becomes the greatest driving challenge I have ever faced. But despite the steep climb and tumbling water, the new Range Rover Sport made it look easy. His traction, composure and all-seeing visibility gave me enough confidence to really enjoy the adventure.”

The basis of the new Range Rover Sport is the platform with the abbreviation MLA-Flex: This stands for "Flexible Modular Longitudinal Architecture" or translates flexible modular longitudinal architecture - the ultra-modern basis for dynamics and driving comfort of the new model generation. The drive range includes two particularly efficient and powerful plug-in hybrids with six-cylinder petrol engines and electric motors. The new Range Rover Sport can travel up to 113 kilometers purely electrically, with CO2 emissions from 18 g/km.

The 390 kW (530 hp) 4.4 liter twin-turbo V8, which enables the new Range Rover Sport to perform at the level of a sports car, is even more performance-oriented: with activated "Dynamic Launch", the P530 model sprints from 4,5 to 0 in just under 100 seconds km/h. The range of engines also includes powerful and efficient mild hybrid six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. From 2024, Land Rover will then continue on the path of electrification of its model range with a fully electric Range Rover Sport.

Confident modern design

Exciting proportions accentuate the emotionally charged body design of the new Range Rover Sport. Taut surfaces, a dynamic stance and the unmistakable profile of the new Range Rover Sport are rounded off by the muscular proportions: the new Range Rover Sport gives the impression of being always ready and equipped for anything. Jaguar Land Rover Chief Designer Prof Gerry McGovern says: "Our newest Range Rover Sport fully embodies our modernist approach to vehicle design, while reinforcing its undeniably sporty and confident character."

The reductive design of the new Range Rover Sport is continued in the interior. It is also striking here that the Range Rover trademark of the Command Driving Position has been further developed - towards a cockpit-like solution. In addition, modern comfort features and assistance systems as well as the highest quality materials ensure that every journey is a pleasurable experience.

Dedicated to every kilometer

The new Range Rover Sport's comprehensive dynamics package enables the model to offer the highest level of driver involvement and exceptional dynamic capabilities - based on the multi-metal MLA Flex platform. The wealth of state-of-the-art technologies is coordinated by the Land Rover-developed Integrated Chassis Control System to give the model the desired agility and instinctive reactions. The Stormer handling package, available as an option for the new Range Rover Sport, allows optimum dynamics and agile handling. It is equipped with all-wheel steering, Dynamic Response Pro roll stabilization and an electronic active limited-slip differential including torque vectoring by braking and configurable programs.

The electronically controlled active 48-volt roll compensation Dynamic Response Pro has a torque capacity of a whopping 1400 Nm: for maximum driving comfort, a minimum of body movements and the best cornering. The all-wheel steering, in turn, provides more stability at faster speeds as well as more maneuverability at lower speeds.

Dynamic Air Suspension is standard on all new Range Rover Sport models. For the first time it is equipped with air springs with adjustable volume. The intelligent system further increases the performance range of the suspension by making the pressure in the air chambers changeable. This balances the traditionally high level of comfort of the Range Rover with the dynamic handling characteristics of the Range Rover Sport. The air suspension acts intelligently and preemptively - for this purpose it obtains eHorizon navigation data, among other things, and can prepare the new Range Rover Sport for all eventualities, such as upcoming bends.

The epitome of sporty luxury

With the new Range Rover Sport, every trip becomes an event - not least because the British performance SUV can be precisely adapted to the user's wishes in terms of dynamics and driver involvement. At the same time, the new model generation impresses with plenty of pampering comfort and sophistication. Last but not least, numerous modern technologies are behind these wide-ranging capabilities.

For example, Cabin Air Purification Pro, the further developed system for cleaning the interior air, ensures comprehensive well-being and an optimized interior environment. On the other hand, various high-performance audio options from the Meridian program promise good entertainment. As the most sophisticated and powerful variant ever to come aboard the Range Rover Sport, the Meridian Signature Sound System crowns the offering: with up to 29 loudspeakers including four loudspeakers in the headrests of the front seats and the two rear outdoor seats, creating personal quiet zones. Next-generation active noise cancellation plays a key role in this, suppressing outside noise trying to make its way into the passenger cabin.

Seamless Technologies

The latest generation of Range Rover Sport also features EVA 2.0: the electric vehicle architecture developed by Land Rover or in the Original Electrical Vehicle Architecture. EVA 2.0 includes SOTA, the ability to obtain Software-Over-The-Air. 63 electronic modules and control units in the new Range Rover Sport receive wireless updates without having to visit a workshop. This keeps the Range Rover Sport state-of-the-art at all times.

The award-winning Pivi Pro infotainment system features a 13,1-inch floating touchscreen with haptic feedback at the center of the modernist dashboard in new Range Rover Sport. The large touchscreen allows all essential vehicle functions to be controlled and controlled, as well as access to media and navigation. The system remembers the habits of its users and thus intelligently personalizes the experience on board: a truly intuitive personal assistant.

Amazon Alexa is also part of the new Range Rover Sport. Voice control has been fully integrated into Pivi Pro and enables numerous functions to be operated with a simple voice command. Last but not least, this reduces the risk of distraction. Plus, with clever AI voice control via the Land Rover smartphone app and remote control capabilities, it can even integrate with Alexa devices at home.

Incomparably powerful

The new, third generation of the Range Rover Sport presents itself as the most dynamic and powerful representative of this series. In addition, she is even more competent off the beaten track than before. In addition to the latest development stage of the intelligent all-wheel drive iAWD, this is due to a wealth of other Land Rover innovations and technologies, which give the new model an even greater range of dynamic capabilities.

With BMW V8: new Range Rover Sport (2022)!

These include, for example, Adaptive Off-Road Cruise Control, the adaptive cruise control for off-road use, which celebrates its premiere in the new Range Rover Sport. It helps the driver to master difficult conditions off the road by ensuring steady progress according to the ground conditions. The pilot can choose one of four comfort programs, within the framework of which the intelligent system selects the appropriate speed. The driver can then fully concentrate on steering.

The new Range Rover Sport rolls off the production lines exclusively at Land Rover's main plant in Solihull, the historic home of Land Rover and Range Rover - alongside the new Range Rover. The order books for the new Range Rover Sport are now open: its recommended retail price in Germany starts at 93.000 euros.
