"I am deeply impressed by what the Red Bull Driftbrothers have tickled out of our vehicles and I wish them both every success for the start of the season. The result also shows what a good basis the BMW M4 Competition offers for use in motorsport. Right from the start of development, we designed the production vehicle to also form the basis for our new GT icon, the BMW M4 GT3, which we officially presented almost two weeks ago as part of the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring“, Says Markus Flasch, CEO BMW M GmbH.

1.050 hp and almost 1.300 Nm torque

Elias and Johannes Hountondji have made extensive changes to the two BMW M4 Competitions in order to adapt them to the special requirements of the spectacular drifting sport. They doubled the top performance of the six-cylinder in-line engine from the BMW M4 Competition 1.050 PS and increased the maximum torque, which is particularly important in drifting, to almost 1.300 Nm.

Elias Hountondji speaks with admiration of the huge potential of the series engine. "This is basically a real racing engine in a road vehicle. With every part that you look at on this engine, you can see that many engineers have put a lot of thought into the optimal design“Says the younger of the two Driftbrothers. In order to achieve the enormous increase in performance, the brothers installed, among other things, a special, particularly powerful one Cooling circuit with one additional second cooler in the rear.

In addition to their own experience, the Driftbrothers also relied on the expertise of BMW design experts. Almost all redesigned aero parts were specially made in the BMW M prototype shop. "It was a great honor for us to be able to work with the BMW experts from the design department and prototype construction. With their help, we were able to implement our ideas perfectly“, Says Johannes Hountondji.

For example, the two BMW M4 Competition from the Driftbrothers received one to optimize the air supply to the engine compartment, among other things new BMW kidney. In addition, a new one was made from carbon spoiler (Gurney) for the tailgate, side covers for the rear diffuser and Essays for the side skirts from the M Performance Parts portfolio.
