Toyota celebrates overall victory at the Dakar Rally with Reiger Suspension

The success story continues. For the second time, Nasser Al-Attiayah wins the Dakar together with Toyota and Reiger. After twelve stage wins over a total distance of 8404 kilometers, Nassar Al-Attiayah celebrated overall victory in the new Toyota Gazoo Racing Hilux pickup truck. As in previous years, the Reiger Rallye customers are always at the forefront of the Dakar. In the overall ranking, customers with dampers from the KW automotive brand Reiger Suspension were in first to sixth place. Reiger equipped more than 408 percent of the 20 vehicles registered in the car, truck, quad, lightweight prototype vehicles, side by side (SxS) and classic categories. In the Trucks and Lightweight Prototype Vehicles categories, Reiger customers also celebrated all stage victories. The baptism of fire of the three Audi RS Q e-tron, also equipped by Reiger, was a complete success. One of the three electrified rally vehicles even finished ninth overall.

Overall victory at the Dakar Rally

The off-road chassis manufacturer Reiger Suspension, which is part of the KW automotive group, plays in numerous motorsport classes far away from paved roads and circuits in the Champions League. In motocross alone, Reiger has equipped a world champion 24 years in a row. The premier class in off-road motorsport is and remains the Dakar Rally. Whether in the deserts of Africa, South America or the Arabian Peninsula. No rally raid is more demanding. In the overall standings, the Katari Nassar Al-Attiayah in the Toyota Gazoo Racing Hilux Pickup (#201) celebrated his fourth overall victory at the Dakar Rally after his victories in 2011, 2015 and 2019.

In the #211 Bahrain Raid Extreme Prodrive BRX, Sebastien Loeb of France and teammate Fabian Lurquin finished second, followed by Saudi Arabian Yazeed Al-Rajhi and Britain's Michael Orr in the #205 Overdrive Toyota in third place. Fourth was the Argentinian Orlando Terranova with his navigator Daniel Oliversas Carreras from Spain (Bahrain Raid Extreme Prodrive BRX #221). South Africa's Giniel de Villiers and Dennis Murphy in the #207 Toyota Gazoo Racing Hilux Pickup finished fifth. Pole Jakub Przygonski with his German co-driver Timo Gottschalk in the X-Raid Mini JCW Team Mini (#203) finished sixth.

Development partner for Audi Sport

The expertise of the KW automotive group is also in demand when automobile manufacturers dare something big. At the Dakar Rally, Audi Sport used three Audi RS Q e-trons with electric powertrains, all of which were equipped with Reiger chassis. The hydraulic power steering in the RS Q e-tron, like the integrated hydraulic lifting system, is an exclusive Reiger development for Audi Sport. In the electric rally car, the front and rear axles are not mechanically connected to each other. Each axle is powered by a so-called Motor Generator Unit (MGU) from the current Audi FE07. Audi Sport uses the efficient 2,0-liter TFSI engine from the Audi RS 5 DTM racing car for charging while driving. These three prototypes from Audi were already the first representatives to make motorsport history and set best times in the Dakar. The Swedes Mattias Ekstrom and Emil Bergkvist finished ninth overall. The Audi driver teams won four stages (T1 Ultimate class) and clinched 14 podium results in the daily classifications. That exceeded the wildest expectations.

Reiger motorsport teams also win with trucks

The Russian KAMAZ Master off-road trucks equipped with Reiger chassis and the two Ivecos from the Petronas Team de Rooy and Mammoet Rallysport Team de Rooy finished on the podium and took positions four to six. First was last year's winner Dmitry Sotnikov (#500), second came Eduard Nikolaev (#505), Anton Shibalov (#501) was third and fourth ahead of the fourth KAMAZ Master Truck with Andrey Karginov (#509). Janus Van Kastern (#504) and Martin van den Brink (#506) finished fifth and sixth with their Iveco trucks. Drivers of civilian off-road vehicles such as the Jeep Gladiator and Ford Ranger will soon also benefit from decades of expertise in tough off-road motorsport demands. The new "Street & Trail" dampers will provide more driving safety, driving stability and damping reserves on unpaved and paved roads alike. www.reigersuspensions.com
