Away from the top models in the form of S63, S65 or the S600 Mercedes has for the current S-Class W222 (Facelift - since July last year) the S560 in the program. Of the M 176 DE 40 AL - V8-BiTurbo it brings it to 469 PS & 700 NM torque and is equipped with a brand new nine-stage automatic (9G-Tronic). If the optional all-wheel drive is installed, it goes to 4,6 km / h in 100 seconds and propulsion is only halted at an electronically sealed 250 km / h.
And just such a specimen has now the Mercedes tuner RENNtech made and gives the S560 almost the same power as the S63 AMG. Clear 584 PS and 870 Newton meters of torque brings the modified M176 engine to light and thus the S560 only makes 1 PS & 30 NM less than the much more expensive S63 AMG. This will hardly be noticeable in the performance and so the S560 should be the perfect alternative to the S63. If we are correctly informed, the tuner achieves the increase in performance exclusively by means of chip tuning, which of course is an announcement.
Especially with regard to possible further modifications to the turbochargers, the exhaust system or the cooling system, it would be interesting to see if this engine could perhaps trump a standard S65 AMG with 630 PS. However, this modified variant now enables acceleration to 100 km / h in just 4,25 seconds and 160 km / h in only 9,14 seconds. And visually, something has done on the luxury liner from Stuttgart because RENNtech built a sentence Vossen Wheels Alloy wheels in 21 inches with their brushed finish perfectly match the silver-gray livery of the body.
So that the wheel set sits optimally in the wheel arch, the electronic air suspension was modified to lower the body a few millimeters. If you want, you can also order a carbon spoiler lip (not installed here) for the tailgate and even more aerodynamic parts from the RENNtech range. The modifications to the chassis and the new wheelset suit the S560 very well and the invisible increase in performance also goes perfectly with the understatement of the W222. If we get even more details about the changes, there will of course, as always, be an update for this report.
