1968 Mercedes-Benz (W108) Restomod with C63 power!

1968 Mercedes-Benz (W108) Restomod with C63 power!

In 2018 we got this crazy Mercedes-Benz W204 project with E190 body of Piper Motorsport presented and today a no less spectacular renovation is being added. Not on a modern platform with an old look, but as a complete one Restomod conversion. In other words, an old body was stuffed with modern technology. And the body is one 1968 Mercedes-Benz of the W108 seriesdrawn by Paul Bracq. It provided the basis for the conversion and has now mutated into an official one-off piece. And by the way, it can even be used as a drift car be used. So pretty much the opposite of what it was actually designed for. Because the classic car with the timeless and imposing design was conceived from the beginning as a luxury liner and not as a tire-shredding horsepower monster. But since him the complete Powertrain and Interior was missed by a 2019 Mercedes-AMG C63S (W205), that has changed!

Mercedes-Benz (W108) Restomod

From now on, the classic takes on current bolides from the present, but no one should trust it optically. Because at first glance, not much has changed compared to the series. Incidentally, the Restomod conversion was largely documented on the canal from @AMG_OG (Tuning by Deluxe Boy Werx) from Brisbane, Australia.

The laborious restored and then the original body was painted black with a lot Chromium on the radiator grille, the aprons, around the headlights and on the window frames and also the trim strips and the rearview mirrors now sparkle with chrome. The modern ones, on the other hand, are completely black 19-inch five-spoke rims from AMG with low-profile tires, behind which a huge AMG sports brake system with perforated and slotted discs and bright yellow saddles. The panes are still there from the B-pillar darkened and do a little on the tailgate "S" emblem next to the original lettering, pay attention to the drive.

approx. 600 hp provide propulsion in the W 108

Because the engine comes from the S model of the current C63 AMG. That means under the hood it is actually raging V8 biturbo (M 177 DE 40 AL) with four liters of displacement and heavy 510 PS and 700 NM torque ex works. By the way, the W108 had "only" a 280-liter V4.5 (M 4,5) with 8 hp ex works as the 117.984 SEL 198, which was coupled to a rather tired three-speed automatic and powered the rear wheels. It was not a bad performance for the 70s, but it is miles away from the AMG V8 from today. And to top it all off, you even have the engine modified. There were new ones down pipes and Chip tuning software and according to the tuner he is now performing 522 hp "on the bike". A measurement from the original engine allegedly showed 398 hp on the bike beforehand. According to our performance calculator the engine power should now be about 600 PS lie.

the gearbox also comes from the C63s

If the classic gets the performance optimally on the road, the sprint at country road speed should at best be in under four seconds be completed. A factory-made C63s can do that and achieve another Top speed of 290 km / h with AMG Driver's Package. Since, as far as we know, the transmission was completely taken over, the key data should also be possible with the W108. The increase in performance will compensate for the somewhat poorer drag coefficient. And finally, we'd like to mention that even that Interior of the C-Class is installed. It comes from a right-hand drive W205 and comes with it Alcantara sports steering wheel, modern Dashboard with infotainment screen and these are chic Bucket seats to see. Incidentally, the renovation was completed by Deluxe Boy Werx with engine work from Maranello Auto Services and further tuning of eTuners.
