Even if there wasn't a SEMA auto show last fall, Wisconsin's famous tuner did ring Brothers presented a spectacular vehicle for the canceled motor show. The latest creation is an extremely subtle one 5,0 liter Mercury Cougar XR-7 with modern Coyote drive from 1968. Excuse me? Sequentially! The unique Cougar from the USA has been sitting in since the conversion 466 hp Ford Mustang (or Ford F-150) naturally aspirated V8 engine from 2011who to a Ford 10-speed automatic from the Raptor was paired. And the renovation is not completely confused. After all, the Cougar used to be the upscale version of the Mustang (Basis: Ford Mustang Hardtop Coupé with 4,7 or 6,4 liters displacement, from 1968 with 5,8 and 7 liter V8). So it fits! And the new interpretation is articulated by means of Flowmaster exhaust systemthat gives the cougar a very dull thud. And so that the stately performance comes on the road in a befitting manner, there was a new one Performance sports suspension from DSE and of course a new set of wheels. The Ringbrothers built specially three-piece C1 C103 rims off the shelf of HRE Performance Wheels with Michelin rubbers. The rim stars are included copper colored and the rim well is polished.

Apart from the many new components, the vehicle is of course complete restauriert and freed from corrosion and pitting down to the last crack. That goes without saying with projects of the Ringbrothers. In the course of the conversion there was one completely new floor pan, you have a special one Transmission tunnel manufactured and the body convinces with as good as new purse, One chrome grille and the right one Lettering and initials front and back. And the special optical detail of the Mercury Cougar, the cool pop-up headlights that hide behind covers and optically integrate into the radiator grille, are still there always present. "We put our hearts into every car we build and the Cougar is no exception"Said Jim Ring, co-owner of the Ringbrothers. And ring further: "The finished product is subtle and noble, but the connoisseur knows immediately that it has nothing to do with the series. I can imagine that a Mercury designer could have come up with the same thing if they were building the Cougar today.“And Ring could be right! Especially considering the subtle look could that be true. Because compared to other vehicles like that 1969 Mustang Mach 1 or the AMC Javelin the latest project is very cautious.

The paintwork shows itself in the successful bottle green (BASF - Augusta Green Metallic) and was with loads Chrome combined. To do this, they sting bright red painted calipers of the High-performance sports brake system eye on the front and rear axles. And it also catches the eye carefully refined cabin. Tons of dominates here light brown leather, there are noble root wood and specially customized state-of-the-art instruments. The center console is controlled by the automatic selector lever, which is optically completely unsuitable, dominates and of course that is a real treat Aluminum sports steering wheel with wooden wreath and shift paddles. At the end... For the Ringbrothers, the Cougar Restomod is unusually subtle, but still a complete success in our opinion!
