The Rossion Q1R is the only vehicle completely wrapped in bare carbon fiber. No, that's not a typo. Rossion Automotive is an American sports car manufacturer that already owns the rights to 2007 Noble M400 could acquire. With this acquisition, the brand created the basis for the mid-engine sports car Q1. Apparently, Rossion has produced three racing versions of the Q1, called Q1R, and only one of them wears a bare carbon fiber body. Just this previous sentence means that the Q1R is one of the rarest cars on earth. The 508 hp Q1 is already a powerful sports car in itself. But the Q1R takes it to a new level with its multitude of upgrades to further increase its potential on the track. As a racing car, the Q1R 2018 has a full roll cage, Sparco racing seats and OMP five-point seat belts. But what makes this particular copy of the Q1R so special is its bare carbon fiber body, which looks as elegant as its purpose - to drastically reduce weight and thereby significantly reduce lap times. The Q1R is powered by a turbocharged Ford 2,0-liter EcoBoost inline-four (yes, the same engine as the Mustang EcoBoost).
This engine brings 287 horses to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox and a limited slip differential. 287 hp for a racing car may sound like little power at first, but weight is known to play an important role on the track. Here the Q1R scores clearly, as the total weight is significantly lower than that of other racing cars thanks to the carbon fiber body. The car is dampened by double-adjustable Koni dampers, which are equipped with H&R springs. The Q1R is equipped with bespoke 18-inch forged wheels covered in Toyo Proxes R888 offset-width tires. Wilwood brake calipers and slotted brake discs take care of the deceleration and give an idea of their performance from the look at the stand.
Unfortunately, the Rossion Q1R 2018 is not intended for road use, but exclusively for the racetrack. The auction is still running for another two days. Currently the price is 29.500 $, at today's exchange rate this equates to a price of 25.200 EUR. This is a bargain for such a powerful car that only exists once.
