With the ŠKODA SLAVIA, the Czech car manufacturer is already presenting its second new model on the Indian market as part of the INDIA 2.0 project. The design competition 'Camouflage with ŠKODA', announced in August, was aimed at design studios, companies, universities as well as design students and professional designers. By the closing date on August 18, more than 200 drafts of a camouflage film for the ŠKODA SLAVIA had been received from all over India. Five designs qualified for the final round. The final decision was made by the jury made up of Gurpratap Boparai, Managing Director of ŠKODA AUTO Volkswagen India Private Limited, Zac Hollis, Brand Director ŠKODA AUTO India, and Oliver Stefani, Head of ŠKODA Design. Among other things, they assessed the areas of creativity and technical expertise, paying particular attention to aspects such as innovation, aesthetics, functionality, effect and emotionality.

Victorious design combines Indian motifs and Czech art

Shreyas Karambelkar prevailed against the competition with his design: The warm colors used represent Indian culture as well as the peacock and lotus motifs. At the same time, the design takes up elements of Czech crystal glass art and Cubism. As the winner of the contest, Shreyas Karambelkar will now fly to Prague and meet ŠKODA chief designer Oliver Stefani there. The second-placed design picks up on the ŠKODA color palette and impressed with regular basic shapes and a pattern that at first glance appears to be random. The jury awarded this idea with a design tablet, the other finalists received prizes from ŠKODA AUTO.

After the SUV KUSHAQ, the ŠKODA SLAVIA is already the second ŠKODA model as part of the product offensive for the Indian market. ŠKODA AUTO is responsible for all activities of the Volkswagen Group in India as part of the INDIA 2.0 project. The aim is to sustainably strengthen the presence of ŠKODA and Volkswagen on the Indian market and to achieve a combined market share of five percent by 2025, depending on market and segment developments.

The investments in the INDIA 2.0 project total one billion euros, of which 275 million euros go into research and the development of new models in the volume segments on the Indian market. ŠKODA has set up a new MQB-A0-IN production line at the Pune location and thus achieves a localization of up to 95 percent, which means that almost all vehicle components are 'made in India'.
