AC Schnitzer technology at the MINI John Cooper Works GP!

AC Schnitzer has been a competent technology partner for all MINI models since 2001 - with the beginning of the first, "new" generation. The AC Schnitzer programs for the models include performance increases, exhaust solutions, tailpipes, intercoolers, chassis and lowering, rims and wheel sets with the AC1 light alloy rims, a front splitter and accessories for the interior. Despite or precisely because of our extensive know-how, we offer an AC Schnitzer program for the limited “Über-MINI”, the MINI John Cooper Works GP (F56), which sets very special accents and which focuses on the driving dynamics of the exceptional athlete concentrated in order to make them even sportier and easier to control.

The AC Schnitzer RS Clubsport coilover kit was developed and coordinated in close cooperation with our partner KW. It is infinitely adjustable in height, adjustable in rebound and compression and has an adjustable support bearing on the front axle. It lowers the MINI JCW GP by approx. 30 - 40 mm, which results in a lowering of the vehicle's center of gravity, and it also enables a variable camber setting on the front axle. As a result, agility and cornering are improved. Since, at the same time, great importance was attached to a high remaining spring travel, a still good ride comfort could be realized parallel to the sporty development. The chassis was designed exclusively for use in racing.

"Traction is the key" thanks to the AC Schnitzer limited-slip differential

The AC Schnitzer limited-slip differential, which is also intended for use in racing, was developed together with Drexler Motorsport for the MINI John Cooper Works GP under the motto: “Traction is the key”. If one side of the drive axle threatens to spin, the mechanical limited-slip differential with the necessary, variable locking effect directs the “excess” force to the opposite wheel in order to ensure maximum propulsion. Conversely, the AC Schnitzer limited-slip differential also works with the necessary, variable locking effect when braking to keep the rear of the vehicle stable. The setup is precisely matched to the vehicle in pull (when accelerating) and thrust (when braking). Thus, the power flow is not interrupted and constant propulsion is ensured in every driving situation. As a result, faster cornering speeds are possible and the vehicle can be steered precisely with the accelerator pedal.

In this way, the driver can use the drive reserves of his car in every situation and achieve optimum driving dynamics. With the front-wheel drive MINI, the steering behavior also benefits from the AC Schnitzer differential lock, as it is now even more direct. The dynamic driving AC Schnitzer package for the MINI John Cooper Works GP is completed with 19-inch wheelsets or rims. The weight-optimized AC Schnitzer light alloy wheels AC1 are available in 8,5J x 19 "in the colors BiColor or Anthracite and are fitted with tires of size 235/30 R 19. The AC Schnitzer pedals and the AC Schnitzer aluminum cover "Black Line" for the iDrive System Controller also ensure the sporty enhancement of the look and feel of the interior. The question remains: technology or sportiness? Clearly: both.
