The fifth generation of the Maserati Quattroporte was the first generation of the luxury sedan, which had notable success in Germany. Anyone who still remembers the almost forgotten fourth generation, which became an absolute flop due to various quality defects and the old-fashioned design, is already a proven connoisseur of luxury automobiles. With the fifth generation, which was offered from 2003 to 2012, Maserati was able to really gain a foothold in the luxury class for the first time, and it annoyed the established top dogs called BMW 7 Series, Mercedes S-Class and Audi A8 a little. With the stylish design and solid technology, which was developed by Ferrari, lovers of extraordinary automobiles got their money's worth. Even today, the sedan exudes a calm elegance that is second to none.

But that’s over when you get the body kit from SCL Global Concept, because then the stylish and elegant design elements are garnished with sporty insignia that you would not otherwise expect on a Maserati. The extremely striking bonnet with profile folds and air intakes on both sides makes it clear that this is not an ordinary Quattroporte. The aggressively styled front apron with the large air inlets and the black grill also makes the large limousine with the trident look much more sporty than before. In our opinion, however, one has overshot the target a bit at the rear, since the black roof spoiler looks a bit unattractive, while the diffuser rear apron and the spoiler on the trunk lid are still acceptable. Unfortunately we do not know whether you can order the parts individually or whether you can only get the whole body kit. Pimped up like this, a Maserati Quattroporte is a car that is suitable for one or two tuning meetings. The design should definitely score with Maserati fans, although with the body kit at a tuning meeting you certainly have to plug in one or the other tip.

The drive is beyond any doubt.

With a 4,2-liter V8 petrol engine that produces between 400 and 440 hp, the fifth generation of the Quattroporte was a gifted sports sedan that could shine with performance similar to a sports car. Up to 285 km / h, it drove the ears of the electronically limited German competition and thus caused great joy among lovers of sporty automobiles. The power transmission of the rear-wheel drive sedan was carried out either via an automated manual transmission with 6 speed steps or a six-step automatic. Incidentally, the Quattroporte is completely unsuitable for environmentally conscious and bargain hunters, as it consumes between 14 and 16 liters per 100 km if you use it not occurs. Otherwise +20 liters can also flow through the injection nozzles.

Who is the body kit for?

The SCL body kit is definitely interesting for young tuning freaks who want to stand out with their cars, because it focuses on sportiness, and thus unfortunately destroys the stylish elegance of the car a little. A Maserati Quattroporte of the fifth generation is also not unaffordable, since there are already well-preserved specimens with high mileage for just over 25.000 euros, which are currently for sale.
