Singer Vehicle Design expands its portfolio again. And about that 911 Convertible im 964 Carrera 2 Cabrio Turbo look. The sports car specialist from Los Angeles recently announced this. That means after the Singer Turbo study as homage to the Porsche 930 Turbo and a total of almost 1.000 built Restomod coupés from the 964 generation, there should also be open turbo models in the future. And that explains company boss Rob Dickinson with the fact that the first Porsche, the 356/1, was also an open vehicle. And the plans for an open Singer temptation are apparently very concrete, because you want the first deliveries later this year make. The fact that Singer is neither a manufacturer nor a dealer changes nothing with the Cabriolet. So Singer remains a pure “finishers", of customer vehicles restauriert and more typical in style Restomods to modern techniques (significantly lower weight, improved aerodynamics, more rigidity) updates.

After the elaborate and extremely comprehensive revision the convertible based on the 964 Turbo is also much closer to a current 1990 than the basic model from XNUMX. The convertible also gets one Carbon fiber body, a completely new one Electronics (incl. LED headlights front and rear etc.), there is one on request Ceramic sports brake system and small details like an inductive Charging cradle for the smartphone are also not missing.
The most important point next to the restoration and the associated transformation into a new car is clearly the engine and its clear performance increase. While back then you had to be content with a 3,3-liter, 235 kW/320 hp six-cylinder boxer engine, Singer did one with the engine 3,8 liter displacement (by Metzger) and, depending on customer requirements, with an output of between 331 kW/450 hp and 375 kW/510 hp.
The first Porsche with a fabric hood modified by Singer!
The air-cooled, double-charged L engine delights in electric wastegate valves, Air-water intercooler into the intake manifold, it hangs on one Six-speed manual transmission and has rear-wheel drive. Exact technical details about the vehicle in general or a specific price for the reinterpretation of the classic have so far been available rather.
Since the final price always depends on the wishes and requirements of the customer, it is also very difficult to estimate. Under 400.000 dollars Will it be a 964 Turbo Cabrio for the trouble (that never existed on the part of Porsche) into the 21st century but probably not going. In return you get an unmistakably fat “shark fin" on the rear fender as part of the intake tract. If we get more information about the planned changes, there is of course an update for this report.
