Does the best Porsche come from California? When he's out of the hall of Singer Vehicle Design we would say JA! For years, the former rock singer Rob Dickinson has been building "optimized" Porsche 911 (964) in Los Angeles with his company Singer Vehicle Design and interested parties are queuing up for it. The history and success of the company are based on a very special enthusiasm for cars and since then (since 2009) the company has enjoyed the best possible reputation among collectors and Porsche fans. And this Mintarrini painted 1991 Porsche 911 'Malibu' is an ultimate example of why that is so. He's going to be at RM Sotheby's offered at a price of $ 875.000 and, like all Singer vehicles, is a one-of-a-kind piece that was handcrafted.

Vehicle number 71 from Singer

The Malibu project originated in 2016 and is the total number 71 vehicle that Singer has built. It was, of course, restored from scratch and has only driven exactly 2.574 km since then. As always, Singer put the 4 on a set of classic aluminum rims in the Fuchs design, installed an adjustable Öhlins sports suspension and, as always, the engine was fundamentally revised. Installed is a tuned 6-liter XNUMX-cylinder boxer from Ed Pink Racing Engines which sends exactly 390 hp to the rear wheels using a six-speed manual transmission. In combination with the low curb weight, the acceleration values are on the level of a current Porsche 911, just with a much nicer design. And what is under the vinyl dress has almost nothing to do with the series. Every XNUMX receives countless components made of carbon (for example the front and rear fenders, aprons, engine cover, trunk lid) which provide a significant weight reduction compared to the series.

less than 3,4 seconds to 100 km / h

And of course the cabin is also in top condition and fundamentally upgraded. Everything, including the Recaro sports seats, is wrapped in light brown leather and skillfully decorated with alabaster seams. In addition, beautiful details such as the 3-spoke sports steering wheel, the black leather-covered dashboard or the high-end audio system set perfect accents. When the 4,0-liter six-cylinder with new pistons, cylinders and cylinder heads, crankshafts, cams, connecting rods, oil pump, throttle body and intake system is allowed to rotate up to a speed of 7.200 rpm, and uses its full torque of 430 NM, it works in less than 3,4 seconds to 100 km / h, which also explains the new Brembo braking system behind the chic aluminum. Because the Malibu oldi wants to be caught again. If we receive timely information on further changes, there is of course an update for this report.
