Update for the KODIAQ: Around four years after the start of its SUV offensive, ŠKODA is upgrading the globally successful SUV. The Czech automobile manufacturer has further developed and aerodynamically optimized the emotional design of the optional seven-seater KODIAQ. For the first time, innovative full LED matrix headlights are available for the large ŠKODA SUV. The sporty top model of the series, KODIAQ RS, is receiving a new, more powerful TSI engine in addition to its visual finishing touches. From July 2021 the refreshed KODIAQ will be available in the equipment lines Active, Ambition and Style as well as L&K, SPORTLINE and RS.

Fine tuning for the Škoda Kodiaq

Thomas Schäfer, CEO of ŠKODA AUTO, emphasizes: “The KODIAQ was a real game changer for us: As the first model in our SUV offensive, it opened up a completely new, highly dynamic vehicle segment for us. Our customers and the international trade press also appreciate the typical brand virtues of the KODIAQ: the excellent price-performance ratio, the extremely generous amount of space and the extensive equipment options. Now we are sharpening the profile of our large SUV in a targeted manner and are ensuring even more safety and comfort with new features such as full LED matrix headlights and ergonomic seats. "

New front section and full LED matrix headlights

Thanks to a specifically further developed ŠKODA design language, the KODIAQ, which will be available from July 2021 in the equipment lines Active, Ambition and Style as well as KODIAQ L&K, SPORTLINE and RS, is even more emotional and self-confident. The aluminum-look inserts on the front and rear aprons ensure that the Active, Ambition and Style equipment lines have more off-road characteristics. The new front section with a raised bonnet and the newly designed, upright ŠKODA grill reinforce the visual presence of the KODIAQ. For the first time, full LED matrix headlights and standard LED headlights are available for the large SUV from the Czech car manufacturer. New light alloy wheels up to 20 inches underline the dynamic, distinctive appearance. Special aero wheels, redesigned front and rear bumpers as well as the new, high-gloss black rear spoiler and side finlets next to the rear window reduce air resistance.

The KODIAQ RS now has its own, specific front bumper in a dynamic design.

Interior ambience on a new level and, for the first time, optional ergonomic seats With new decorative strips, additional contrasting stitching and extended functions of the LED ambient lighting, ŠKODA is taking the look of the interior of the KODIAQ to a new level. For the first time, electrically adjustable ergonomic seats with a cover made of perforated leather, ventilation and massage function are available for the large SUV. The optional eco seats for the Ambition and Style equipment lines have high-quality seat covers made from animal-free, recycled materials. In addition to the central loudspeaker in the dashboard and the subwoofer in the trunk, the optional CANTON sound system now offers a further ten instead of the previous eight.

Optional virtual cockpit and extended proactive occupant protection

A virtual cockpit with a 10,25-inch display and four different basic views is available as an option; the KODIAQ RS comes with it as standard. There and in the KODIAQ SPORTLINE there is an additional sports view to choose from. The range of assistance systems now also includes the extended proactive occupant protection, which also reacts through additional radar sensors at the rear if vehicles behind could collide with it.

New petrol engine for the KODIAQ RS

The sporty top model KODIAQ RS is getting a new engine in addition to its visual finishing touches. The 2,0 TSI petrol engine comes from the EVO generation of the Volkswagen Group and develops an output of 180 kW (245 PS) *. This makes it 4 kW (5 PS) more powerful than the previously used twin-turbo diesel engine and at the same time is more than 60 kg lighter. Together with the new 5,2-speed DSG, which is 7 kilograms lighter, the engine's performance has improved once again. The two other petrol engines, the 1,5 TSI with 110 kW (150 PS) * and the 2,0 TSI with 140 kW (190 PS) *, as well as the 2,0 TDI units with 110 kW (150 PS) * and 147 kW (200 PS) * belong to the new generation of EVO engines from the Volkswagen Group.

With the presentation of the KODIAQ, ŠKODA started its highly successful SUV offensive in 2016. With its distinctive, emotional design language, high processing quality and an excellent price-performance ratio, it immediately won over customers, automotive experts and the trade press alike. The SUV scores above all with its enormous amount of space for a total length of 4,70 meters. With the optional fold-out third row of seats, the KODIAQ offers space for up to seven passengers or stowed away up to 2.065 liters of luggage when the rear seats are folded down.

Internationally produced and successful worldwide

Production of the KODIAQ began in 2016 at ŠKODA's Kvasiny plant in the Czech Republic. As part of the SUV offensive, the company invested the equivalent of more than 2018 million euros in the modernization of this location by 290 and made it a competence center for SUV production, among other things. In order to meet the great international interest in the KODIAQ, ŠKODA also set up production lines for its large SUV in China, India and Russia in the following years. By the end of March 2021, more than 600.000 KODIAQ had rolled off the production line worldwide.

Even more power for the first SUV model in the traditional RS family from ŠKODA

The new 2,0 TSI petrol engine has an output of 180 kW (245 PS) and improves the performance of the SUV even further. With body applications in high-gloss black and the new 20-inch Sagitarius light-alloy wheels, it is immediately recognizable as a member of the ŠKODA RS family. The sporty SUV now has full LED matrix headlights as standard. The interior of the KODIAQ RS is characterized by the combination of sports seats with black Suedia covers and red contrasting stitching, as well as door panels with black Suedia covers and black contrasting stitching in a diamond-cross design.

The new 2,0 TSI petrol engine of the KODIAQ RS comes from the EVO generation of the Volkswagen Group. The power increases by 4 kW (5 PS) to 180 kW (245 PS), while the weight is more than 60 kilograms lower.

Exterior with black accents and new aero wheels

The sporty black details are typical of members of the RS family. The newly designed, hexagonal ŠKODA grill with its massive double ribs on the KODIAQ RS is finished in high-gloss black. It is flanked by the slimmer headlights with standard full LED matrix technology. The window frames and roof rails also shine in black, while the RS-specific aprons at the front and rear are painted in the same color as the car. Compared to the previous model, the KODIAQ RS now has its own, specific front bumper in a dynamic design. As with all ŠKODA RS models, the rear is adorned with a reflector that extends over the entire width of the vehicle. The RS logos can be found on the tailgate and on the ŠKODA grill. The standard 20-inch, high-sheen Sagitarius alloy wheels in black metallic with aerodynamic trims are new.

Virtual cockpit with sports view and red contrasting stitching in the interior

The standard Virtual Cockpit of the KODIAQ RS welcomes the driver with an RS-specific look and offers a sports view as an additional fifth display mode. The speedometer display and the rev counter dominate here. The sports seats with integrated headrests have black covers made of Suedia microfibre with eye-catching red contrasting stitching, and a red RS logo is embroidered on the front seats. Red stitching can also be found on the instrument panel and the armrests in the doors. The door panels, like the seats, are finished in black suedia, here with black contrasting stitching in a diamond-cross design.
