Maserati meets fragment: Special Edition Maserati Ghibli

Maserati and Hiroshi Fujiwara, the Japanese pioneer of street culture, enter into a partnership. This crosses geographical and disciplinary boundaries and conquers undiscovered areas of boldness. The collaboration has now resulted in two special editions of the Maserati Ghibli, which were presented at an exclusive world premiere in Tokyo. The two models are called Operanera and Operabianca. The partnership is the result of the possibilities offered by the new Maserati Fuoriserie customization program. It gives customers the chance to create their own Maserati that is entirely tailored to their personal tastes. The vehicle is therefore more than a simple object, because it becomes a tailor-made item of clothing and a symbol of contemporary luxury.

Hiroshi Fujiwara is a recognized trendsetter. As a pioneer of Tokyo’s streetwear culture, he was one of the first DJs to import hip-hop into the land of the rising sun. He also worked as a producer and musician with international record stars. As a visual artist, he specializes in expressing aspects of urban moods. Like Maserati, he has the ability to break down barriers and be brave. In keeping with the concept of “ITANJI”, a Japanese term that means the meeting of Italian design and Japanese perfection, Operabianca and Operanera were born.

The style of Maserati and the character of Hiroshi Fujiwara are highly recognizable. The encounter between the visual codes of Maserati and the street style of Fujiwara's Fragment brand resulted in a creative partnership that is literally a duet: Maserati meets Fragment, expressed in Ghibli Operanera and Ghibli Operabianca. The latter is in white, the other in black. Both are based on the GranLusso equipment line. A total of 175 copies are made for distribution around the world.

The color language applies not only to the exterior, but also to the wheels and door handles. The interior is made of premium leather and Alcantara, complemented with silver contrasting inserts for the vertical seams and the trident on the headrests. The seat belts are dark blue. The grille is the iconic detail of this partnership. Fujiwara's urban style is reflected in a special execution of the trident. To complete the exterior, the Ghibli Operanera and Ghibli Operabianca are fitted with 20-inch Urano-design wheels in matt black and a special emblem with a fragment logo on the C-pillar.

Last but not least, the code M157110519FRG appears under the three side air outlets. This alphanumeric label represents the partnership between the two brands: the first four characters are the Ghibli ID code, the next six numbers indicate the date of the first meeting (November 5, 2019) between Hiroshi and the Maserati Centro Stile, and the last three letters are the acronym of fragment. The launch of Ghibli Operanera and Ghibli Operabianca will be accompanied by a new collection, designed in collaboration with Hiroshi Fujiwara in the same unconventional spirit as the vehicles themselves, and available through Maserati's official sales channels.
