The arms race under the tuners has long since begun with the M3. The models F80 and F82 are more popular than ever. One reason is certainly the now charged engine which was installed in no M3 so far. In Germany there are tuners like G-Power, PP-Performance or also JP Performance. The rest of the world is certainly not idle around.

So far the motor control of the M3 F80 / F82 is perfectly encrypted and the hackers are gritting their teeth. So when it comes to increasing the performance by optimizing the control unit, BMW has at least done a great job so far, NONE can yet. Thus, at the moment there is only the somewhat less popular method of “prediction” of incorrect data to the engine control unit by means of a tuning box. Of course, this automatically limits the possibility of what is feasible.

The 6-cylinder biturbo engine delivers 431PS ex works. In Germany so far no more than “only” 520PS and 700 Newton meters are possible. If this performance is enough for you, you can knock on Lightweight, Versus-Performance, G-Power, PP-Performance, JP-Performance and your wish will certainly be fulfilled. Manhart Perfomance is so far the first German tuner to announce an increase to 550PS.

Since everything is different in America, it is not surprising that the Speed District Car Club founder Josh Shokri is already allowed to chase a BMW M3 F80 with currently 580PS and 847NM through the streets. His M3 is also a project car for many other tuners. The car currently has e.g. a Brembo brake is installed which has 380mm slotted discs at the front and rear. Yellow-painted brake calipers with six pistons at the front and four pistons at the rear make up the overall package.

The chassis is also currently being worked on. However, H&R has not yet had a chassis in its program so Josh Shokri's car still has to get by with lowering springs.

Thomas Wachsmuth - He has been an integral part of tuningblog.eu since 2013. His passion for cars is so intense that he invests every available penny in them. While he dreams of a BMW E31 850CSI and a Hennessey 6x6 Ford F-150, he currently drives a rather inconspicuous BMW 540i (G31/LCI). His collection of books, magazines and brochures on the subject of car tuning has now reached such proportions that he himself has become a walking reference work for the tuning scene.  More about Thomas
