The Subaru Impreza combined with the late racing driver Colin McRae is a legend. In fact, there are two legends! And a small business (Best Engineering, based in Novara / Italy) is now building a limited tribute car, which honors both the Impreza and McRae, and is expected to cost around €438.000 (£370.000). The vehicle is the Best Impreza Colin McRae Edition, of which only eight vehicles (one for each of McRae's victories (seven) and an eighth car to commemorate overall victory in the 1995 WRC Championship) should arise. The Impreza is a detailed homage to the Group A Rally Impreza 555, but also to McRae himself. Carlo Boroli as the owner of Best engineering is considered a longtime Subaru and rally enthusiast and is responsible for the 555. He should stronger and "sharper“ be than the original, there is more Grip, a better application and the ride quality is, in Towler's words, "far more sophisticated".
Best Impreza Colin McRae Edition
The typical 555 feeling but he probably didn't lose. At least that's what Best Engineering says. For example, Boroli's team spent six days on the test bench to sound from the exhaust as close as possible to the real 555 without reducing performance. And now the vehicle is so close to the original that the McRae family themselves gave the project their official blessing. And all changes are within the limits of the way FIA homologation documentation carried out by the original car. The deputy editor of EVO – magazines, Adam Tower, had the opportunity to drive the real-life Group A Impreza before taking the Best Impreza Colin McRae Edition tested. Have fun with the video!
