STI Racing Department from the Japanese manufacturer Subaru one connects mainly successful rally cars and the derived homologation models for the road. Now, however, die-hard rally fans have to rethink, because at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2022 the brand, which belongs to the Fuji Heavy Group, is presenting a all-electric concept car, which should make the legendary three letters fit for the future. you notice it (Unfortunately) everywhere that the electrification of the automobile can no longer be stopped. And so Subaru figured it was important to set the course for tomorrow. This resulted in the spectacular concept car STI E-RA Electric, which doesn't appear to prioritize environmental awareness and zero-emission driving. Today we would like to introduce the sports car to you in more detail.
Radical design in Le Mans style!
It stands there powerful and sporty, the first sports car of the brand to bear the name STI may wear, even if so far only as a study. The graphic of LED headlights However, it is suspiciously reminiscent of current Renault models, because the daytime running lights, which extend far into the bumper, are also a design feature of the French. The Indian SUV specialist Mahindra has also taken up this type of headlight design and one wonders whether individual design ideas can no longer be implemented in automotive design.
The front design of the STI concept car looks like a mix of well-known style elements, which immediately evoke associations with Aston-Martin, Koenigsegg and Renault. The front hood owns Fake air vents, which are only for optics and have no use, but are strongly reminiscent of the aforementioned Swedish hypercar brand Koenigsegg or vaguely of a Ford GT. the Silhouette impresses with its radical style, which is not dissimilar to that of a Le Mans prototype, and conveys the necessary sportiness that one would expect from an electric car in this class.
An Roof Scoop, So a Air scoop on the roof, a massive rear wing in GT style as well as a powerful one diffuser are also part of the exterior of the show car. And it should even be ready to drive and aim for a new record time of under 6 minutes 40 seconds on the Nordschleife. The first attempt to set a new record in the green hell is for 2023 planned. System output of 1.073 HP ensures driving pleasure
The electric super sports car is powered by the same four (!) electric motorsPowered by a lithium-ion battery with a total capacity of moderate 60 kWh to be fed. This results in a breathtaking system performance of 1.073 HP, about 1.088 hp! The vehicle is also equipped with an active Torque vectoring system equipped, which should ensure a hitherto unrivaled driving dynamics. Various sensors monitor all of the vehicle's telemetry data and parameters and can actively intervene in just a few milliseconds to enable maximum driving dynamics. Unfortunately, we do not (yet) know anything about the exact driving performance. But they are likely to be from another planet, given the high performance and the likely low curb weight.
Our conclusion on the Subaru STI E-RA Electric Concept:
Technically definitely a hit, but it has to be said that the optics have been copied here and there from other brands in our opinion!
