VW Beetle as a Super Bugger camper with a Super Beetle engine!

Mecum Auctions once again had a rather unusual vehicle at the start and recently sold it in Indianapolis. And that's a lot smaller than that ReRun motorhome based on Chevrolet C30, which is currently looking for a new owner on Mecum. If you want to camp in style during the coronavirus pandemic, you should definitely take a look at this unique piece, even if it's no longer available. It's a remodeled one VW Beetle from the year 1969 from the USA. And this isn't some do-it-yourself conversion, it's a vehicle made by a company in California in the 1970s Great bugger camper based on the classic beetle. The tiny motorhome belonged to Lloyd Smith, who had it built in 1977 based on a 1969 Beetle. Apart from the front hood, which still functions as storage space, nothing of the old-school camper is identical to the Beetle. And that also applies to the cabin.

official suitable for 2 people

Ok, the dashboard is typical Beetle, but the rest of the 1970s flair is custom. There is much brown and beige shaggy carpet, Wood on the walls and ancient curtains. And with one Hatch in the ceiling there is some ventilation. But that's not all. There's even a tiny one kitchen sink, Hob and something like a AM / FM radio as well as a CB radio. Overall, the conversion offers just enough space for two people to sleep, but understandably less of a king-size quality. And that also applies to the little motor. The Super Bugger only has one 1,6-liter four-cylinder engine from a 1303 (known as "Super Beetle") installed. The engine from 1973 is on Four-speed manual transmission coupled and by means of modified suspension the additional weight is kept halfway on the road.
