Video: Toyota Supra (Mk5) vs. Tuning Supra (MK4)

In the following race occurs a standard Toyota Supra (Mk5) against a tuned MK4 example. The video is from Top Gear Channel and the comparison was driven on the in-house test track. The Mk5 Supra has BMW's well-known 3,0-liter twin-turbo straight-six under the hood 340 PS & 500 Nm torque and 8-speed automatic transmission. For this he weighs 1.495 kg.. The tuned Mk4 has one too 3,0-litre biturbo straight-six under the sheet, but with 527 PS & 639 Nm torque and an elderly one 4-speed automatic transmission. Both vehicles have of course rear-wheel drive.

However, the MK4 weighs heavily 1.585 kg.. Although the additional 187 PS & 140 Nm torque are an announcement, the additional 90 kg curb weight should not be underestimated either. And what's more, the old technology in the MK4 is likely to be light years away from modern powertrain, chassis and engine technology. We can already reveal that the difference between the two cars on the track is a whopping 10,1 seconds. It's best to see for yourself who is faster.

About Thomas Wachsmuth

Thomas Wachsmuth - He has been an integral part of tuningblog.eu since 2013. His passion for cars is so intense that he invests every available penny in them. While he dreams of a BMW E31 850CSI and a Hennessey 6x6 Ford F-150, he currently drives a rather inconspicuous BMW 540i (G31/LCI). His collection of books, magazines and brochures on the subject of car tuning has now reached such proportions that he himself has become a walking reference work for the tuning scene.  More about Thomas
