Tata Nexon - a cool SUV that bears the Land Rover signature. As is well known, the Indian Tata Group took over the leadership of Jaguar and Land Rover at the beginning of the millennium. This takeover is gradually bearing fruit for its own products, which are destined for the Indian market. After a sports division called JTP was founded, more and more models are now coming onto the market that meet European standards in terms of safety and environmental protection. On January 22 of this year, the new Tata Nexon, an SUV of the sub-4 class, which receives tax breaks in India if the cars are under 4 meters long and have no more than 1,5 liters of displacement, was introduced can record with the best compact SUVs in Europe and Asia.
Design is reminiscent of English models
On the beefy front of the only 3,99m long, but 1,81m wide and 1,61m high SUV dominate headlights in the Land Rover style, which are very reminiscent of the Land Rover Discovery Sport, and a grill with a wide clasp, which houses the prominent Tata logo. The front gets a rustic touch from a distinctive underride guard, beefy fenders and very distinctive fog lamp housings, in which round, deflecting fog lamps are housed. The sideline is particularly striking because the belt line below the windows is always in a contrasting color to underline the lifestyle aspiration of the small SUV. Of course, various roof colors are also available as an option, which, due to the basically black painted columns, gives the impression that the roof is floating above the car. A black and silver roof rail also provides an off-road feeling in the city, the preferred area of the new Tata Nexon, which also has a color-contrasting stripe on the tailgate at the rear, which lights up the LED taillights in a certain way imitate the taillight design of the current Mini. The design looks very playful overall, but at the same time also high quality, rustic and gives the impression that Tata is very serious when they say that the new Nexon should be a great success.

The new Indian is either powered by a 1,2-liter turbo gasoline engine with 110 hp and 170 Nm of maximum torque, or by a 1,5-liter turbodiesel with 110 hp, which also generates 260 Nm of maximum torque. You can swim with it in traffic in the city, but if you want to set the tone on the highway, you probably have problems with the small Tata SUV, especially because the Indian stretches his arms at around 175 km / h. After all, an automated manual transmission is available for both engine variants, which noticeably increases comfort.
The equipment is at a very high level.
In the highest equipment line called XZA + (O), an incredibly bulky name for a model variant, the Tata has features that make every Dacia or Lada green with envy. Reversing camera, light and rain sensor as well as a multi-zone automatic climate control and a sound system from Harman Kardon with 8 speakers are standard. There is also a navigation system with voice control, a smart watch to open and close the doors, and a start button to start and stop the engine. Of course, TPMS, ESP and an airbag set are standard on board, but unfortunately there are still no intelligent driver assistance systems for the new Tata Nexon.
Battle prices are a thing of the past.
In terms of price, the top version of the Tata Nexon, which has various comfort features, is the equivalent of around 22.000 euros, if you add all import duties and taxes, and thus between a Dacia Duster and its competitors from Japan, Korea and Europe. In return you get a cool, youthful-fresh car that is guaranteed to stand out from the gray mass of traffic, and to put a smile on your face when you open the garage in the morning.
