Everybody is talking about Tesla, this brand is currently on everyone's lips: No other car manufacturer relies on the electric motor in such an effective way and at the same time comes out with new, trendy models. The famous Croatian inventor Nikola Tesla, who lived from 1856 to 1943, serves as the namesake of the California-based company. Since 2003, Tesla Motors has been on the way to conquer the car world - and also presented the tuning experts with fresh challenges.

The electric car still has a bit of a reputation for being there to function alone. Environmental protection and practical benefits in one package supposedly leave no room for chic design and cool tuning: far from it! In 2008 at the latest, Tesla impressively demonstrated with its roadster that sporty design also found its place in the electronics industry! The Lotus Cars plc. designed, sleek look not only met admiration on the part of die-hard Tesla fans, but also brought plenty of fame and honor outside of the usual haze. Only about 2450 pieces of the two-seater sports car left the production halls, but the eyes of the curious car world had finally turned to Tesla. The second generation of the Roadster is scheduled to roll off the assembly line in 2020, and by then the potential sales market will probably have multiplied.

Celebrated celebrities have long been committed to the 252 hp vehicle, including George Clooney and Arnold Schwarzenegger. According to media reports, the ex-bodybuilder even reserved two of these cars before the official start of sales, with a range of at least 350 km. The famous German Youtubers “BBQ from Rheinhessen” and “Horst Lünig from the Whiskey store”, on the other hand, rely more on Tesla's Model S, an aesthetic five-door electric sedan that has been sold more than 2012 times since June 100.000. The Federal Motor Transport Authority did not hesitate to classify the Model S as a luxury class car, it made it from 0 to 100 within 2,7 seconds. Poker ace Daniel Negreanu, a member of Team PokerStars, also swears by the Model S. He continuously informs his followers via Twitter and Youtube about how much fun he is having with this car. Whether it was he who convinced Cameron Diaz, Morgan Freeman, Ben Affleck and Harrison Ford to drive Tesla with his exuberance is doubtful, but possible. In any case, all these stars switched to the trendy electric cars a few years ago. No wonder, as the Model S is very reminiscent of the popular Porsche Panamera, but with its own, individual details that make the Tesla unique on the car market.

To cut a long story short: We think that these aesthetically shaped speedsters literally demand suitable tuning! For example, we found various hand-forged rims for the Model S on the net, both in 21 and 22 inches. The intelligent coilover kit DDC ECU is available in three different setups: Comfort, Sport and Sport +. After installation, the optics show a distinct nuance of sportiness, the lowering is moderate. The coil springs can be individually adjusted so that a complete chassis replacement is not necessary.

The chip tuning industry has also taken Model S to its chest, DTE provides accelerator tuning for adrenaline junkies. With the pedal box, the car gets an enormous drive in the sprint, after all, the numerous horsepower under the hood also want to be properly challenged. According to the manufacturer, the system can be installed quickly within a few minutes. Subsequent fine adjustment is possible; the currently set power level can be read using color LEDs.

For the IAA 2015, the Bottrop-based company Brabus has successfully embellished the exterior and interior of a Tesla - the tuning elements required for this are currently still available in the shop. The seats got neat leather covers, pretty blue stitching everywhere, even on the floor mats. Decorative strips made of carbon or optionally made of wood form the suitable frame for an extremely elegant interior. The center tunnel not only received an inductive charging station for smartphones, but also coolable and heatable cup holders for drinks with a pleasant temperature. The outside of the car was equipped with a splitter including sideblades, which give it a latently aggressive touch. Of course, this also improves the air flow, with the support of the carbon diffuser attached to the rear.

Ergo: Tesla and tuning go perfectly together, there are already numerous successful advances in this direction on the current market. Electric drive and sporty outfit will most certainly continue to go together in the future - and also miss a surprising Saubermann image for the passionate tuners.
