Today there is a very special drag race! A 1.000 hp Toyota Supra competes against a VW Passat with an LS7 V8 engine. Curtain up for that "World's Most Rowdy Passat" by Tanner Foust. We introduced the LS7 Volkswagen as a radical drift car a good 5 years ago and it is still alive. And this Passat is definitely no longer the shy medium-sized sedan that Volkswagen deliberately designed. Because with an LS7 V8 under the bonnet and 850 to 900 hp and an "8-in-1 exhaust" (all cylinders open into a pipe) there is not only a unique muscle car soundscape, but also completely crazy driving performance. Like many rallycross or drift vehicles, with high-end modifications, the Passat is from Papadakis Racing built. And the LS7 itself is a 7,3 literCrate engine (450 ci) with originally 700 hp. A nitrous oxide engine however, provides another 200 hp.

And it goes without saying that converting a limousine with front-wheel drive to a racer with rear-wheel drive is extremely complex. The result, apart from the basic shape and the headlights, is actually hardly a real Volkswagen. And in the Hoonigan Drag Race video, of course, there is no standard Mk IV Toyota Supra on the other side of the quarter mile. The vehicle is a specimen with a befitting 1.000 hp. A Supra with more power than the opponent is usually enough to win the race. But the Passat still has a few aces in the fenders. It's about 900 pounds (0,41 t) lighter and has a 4-speed racing transmission compared to the conventional manual transmission on the Supra.
