Thick BMW V8 engine in the 1962 Skoda Octavia

We have just found a tuned 1962 Škoda Octavia that was not modified by a specific tuning company but by a private tuning enthusiast and auto mechanic by the name of Grzegorzovo. His passion & hobby is clearly his Škoda Octavia and the subject of "tuning". Unless I'm completely in the dark, since the Škoda Superb 4000 Type 919, which was only built 10 times between 1939 and 1940, there has never been a V8 engine in a Skoda ex works. Exactly this shortcoming of the last one good 80 years Grzegorzovo apparently wanted to "iron it out" and created his 1962 Škoda Octavia with 4,4 liter V8 engine from the BMW E39 540i (either with M62TU B44 from 1996-98 or with M62B44(TÜ) from 1998-2004).

The nice thing about such conversions is the fact that parts from a wide variety of suppliers can be found on such a vehicle and that in the end you get a car that is considered unique and with such an individual configuration can certainly not be found a second time. With a Restomod project like this, the chance of finding an identical model is even lower, because the body work in particular is not supplemented with prefabricated components, but is created individually and at your own discretion. I like such conversions by far the best, since the private tuners are not tied to product lines of any kind, but can let their thoughts run free.

The vehicle was for sale in 2023

As a rule, very own work is carried out on the bodywork or the interior. And on the Octavia, that affects the whole car. The personal touch of the owner is perfectly reflected in the vehicle! We already know a few details about the modifications to the Skoda. What we were able to find out is listed below for you in a summary. Ps. You can find even more, mainly privately tuned vehicles in our Selfmade category!

While he dreams of a BMW E31 850CSI and a Hennessey 6x6 Ford F-150, he currently drives a rather inconspicuous BMW 540i (G31/LCI). His collection of books, magazines and brochures on the subject of car tuning has now reached such proportions that he himself has become a walking reference work for the tuning scene.  More about Thomas
