The legendary Castrol TOM's Racing Toyota Supra (MK4, MKIV, JZA80) was recently found lonely and abandoned. And the racing team has now started a project to make the athlete shine again in his old glory. The vehicle is probably the best-known ever to be used in the Japanese Super GT series. With the MK4 Supra, the rivalry between Nissan and Toyota has been raised to a completely new level. After its successful use as a racing car, the Supra had virtually disappeared from the public eye. But recently she was found in a hall in the Chugoku region of Japan. So far it is unclear how the vehicle ended up there, but the main thing is that you have it back. However, it seems as if the Japanese had been there for many years, which was not really beneficial for the condition. TOM's Racing would now like to take over the complete restoration of the vehicle and is publicly asking for donations for the project in the form of a crowdfunding campaign in the amount of 50.000.000 yen (466.000 USD).

The team's first funding goal is 10.000.000 yen (approximately $ 93.000) and is intended to enable cosmetic restoration from inside and outside. The second step is 30.000.000 (approx. USD 279.000) and is intended to make the Supra mobile again. The ultimate goal would be the 50.000.000 yen mentioned to bring the MK4 back onto the racetrack. The Castrol TOM's Team's Racing Supra made its debut during the All-Japan Grand Touring Car Championship in 1995. It was in direct competition with the then Nissan Skyline. At that time, however, Toyota decided against using the 2JZ engine from the street model and instead equipped the racing car with the 2,0-liter Turbo 3S-GT from the Toyota Celica WRC with 493 hp and over 600 Nm torque. The Supra won on the Sendai Hi-Land Raceway on June 25, 1995 and secured numerous other victories in the following seasons.
