Announced in April and now finished! The start-up from Italy “Totem Automobili”, which specializes in Restomod vehicles, is finally showing a real one Totem GT electric. The vehicle is a handcrafted restoration of an Alfa Romeo Giulia GT 1600/1750 from the 60s. However, a state-of-the-art electric drive is now working under the hood. The idea for the vehicle came from Riccardo Quaggio, who, as Italian car designer and founder of Totem Automobili, was responsible for the entire concept. Overall, it took a good 3 years before the vehicle was actually on the road. And the conversion that was carried out was extremely time-consuming. Only 10 percent of the chassis has been preserved since its completion. They have been combined with countless state-of-the-art aluminum components.

The most important change was to replace the old combustion engine with an electric motor. As a result, the originally impressive 195 hp has now become a massive 525 hp. Almost 390 kW in a light oldi? It goes without saying that driving fun is guaranteed here. And the drive unit was even installed as a mid-engine. Using McFly technology from partner 2electron. It allows the electric drive to be given as much of the fascination of a classic combustion engine as possible. Not in an acoustic way, but in terms of performance, especially out of the curve. Totem therefore describes the vehicle as "the first electric car in the world with a tailor-made engine". The company promises that the power, the torque curve, the gear ratio, all vibrations and even the sound from the 13 built-in external speakers can be completely adapted to the wishes of the customer.

Headlights and taillights with LED technology

And the vehicle is already visually impressive in every respect. The body with the beautiful retro design is stately 18 centimeters wider than the original and is now made entirely of carbon. And that also applies to the grill grille with its eye-catching geometric pattern. And then there are the ultra-modern components from the present. The headlights and rear lights with LED technology are specifically meant. They also present themselves in a classic guise and at the same time impress with the brightness of current headlights. And in the interior, too, no stone was left unturned. There are sports seats made of carbon with a fine leather cover based on the seats of the 1750 Giulia GT and the armrests in the doors are made of wood covered with leather. And the steering wheel is a reinterpretation of the Momo Hellebore.

The steering wheel is now closer to the driver and those who like to drift also get a classic handbrake lever. The round instruments, which consist of two displays set in carbon rings, and the likewise round ventilation openings are an eye-catcher. In contrast, technical highlights such as an anti-theft system, modern heating, air conditioning or a keyless start system as well as electric windows are installed invisibly. For the audio system, Totem relies on a package specially developed by Audio Development for the GT electric and only the price, the information on range, the driving performance or the manner in which it is required are not (yet) known. But if we get the first information about this, there is of course an update for this report. You will be informed of this if you simply use ours Feed subscribe to.
