Factory tuning - the Toyota Corolla USA Special Edition

Recently, Toyota announced one specifically for Japan limited version of the GR Yaris as "RS" hang up and now there is another vehicle for the USA. There is a special version of the new Corolla. Especially for the USA, the Special Edition will only contain 1.500 vehicles and will be based on the hatchback version called hatchback. And optically, this is evident with the add-on parts that are quite successful. Although they look as if they were retrofitted by a tuner as individualization, this should by no means be meant negatively. There is an extensive body kit with a sporty front splitter, double-sided side skirts, large roof edge spoiler and a significantly modified rear apron. It has a sporty use with a hint of a diffuser, which stands out in black from the lacquer coating in "Supersonic Red".

the rims are black too

And of course this also applies to the other attachments and even the 18-inch wheelset. It is also painted in glossy black and is the secret highlight of the changes outside. The tuning package for the Corolla brings the hot hatch optically to the level of a VW Golf GTI, Hyundai i30 N or Seat Leon Cupra as we find. Unfortunately, this does not really continue under the hood. Because the Special Edition has installed the engine that all hatchback Corollas have in the USA. Namely a two-liter four-cylinder with 170 HP and 210 Nm torque. The Corolla is hopelessly inferior to a 245 PS Golf GTi, a 250 PS i30 N or the 290 PS strong Cupra. Too bad! Because the other technical features such as the multi-link rear axle or the continuously variable automatic transmission (Shiftmatic) with shift paddle on the steering wheel would also go well with a strong top model.

Is the GR Corolla coming?

And maybe it will come. Because the Special Edition does not seem to be the end of the flagpole in the USA. Toyota apparently wants to bring another GR hot hatch to America instead of the GR Yaris. Maybe you blow the turbo three-cylinder with 261 PS and 360 NM torque out of the GR Racing just open something and stuff it into the Corolla? Various hints from Toyota when introducing the special model to an even sportier version in the hatchback segment could actually suggest a GR Corolla. If we get the first information about this, there is of course an update for this report. You will be informed if you simply use ours Feed subscribe to.
