In the small car segment, there is currently nothing that can hold a candle to the Toyota GR Yaris (XP21). Polo Gti, Hyundai i20N or Fiesta ST, all not bad, but simply not on the level of the GR Yaris. What the boys & girls of the racing/performance division Toyota Gazoo Racing set up, that's currently in the hot-hatch class one-time. The GR Yaris manages to bring the know-how gained in motorsport directly to road traffic and you can tell in every corner that the Gazoo Racing World Rally Team was extensively involved in the development work. But the team of Senner Tuning from Ingelheim still saw some potential!
Toyota GR Yaris "Race Edition"
The focus was on the performance of G16E GTS three-cylinder with direct injection and turbocharger. The three-cylinder turbo engine was therefore donated to the in-house Senner High Performance Kit, and the factory 261 hp and 360 Nm become full 351 PS and 435 Nm! This is of course an announcement, especially considering the vehicle segment. Senner achieves the increase in performance by means of Chip tuning software in the original control unit, there was one Wagner Competition intercooler with Charge and Boost Pipe and also one HJS sport downpipe and 300-cell ECE Sport Catalytic Converter is installed. The latter is coupled to one Milltek sports exhaust system with carbon tailpipes and thus ensures a befitting soundscape.

But just increasing the performance of the all-wheel drive was not enough. Because the Japanese also got a new one wheelset. Specifically, it is WORK Wheels alloy wheels of the Kiwami type in the dimensions 9,5 × 18 inches all around, thanks to the manufacturing process "WORK Flowforming Technology“ are particularly light and weigh only a slim 19,4 kg as a complete bike. This guarantees that the unsprung or rotating masses are reduced. By the way, the wheel set is equipped with sticky ones Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 semislicks in 245/35R18 format. And we think the Japanese double-spoke rims with the matt black finish and around 70 millimeters of concavity come across particularly well on the white photo vehicle.
Lowering with KW sports suspension
And of course that is too Suspension no longer series. Since the GR Yaris is also occasionally to be shooed over the racetrack, a chassis from KW that is equally suitable for track use and at the same time for public road traffic was installed. In concrete terms, it is a separately adjustable compression and rebound damping KW Variant 3 coilover suspension. The result is a racetrack-ready GR Yaris that only has one catch, namely a whopping €15.000 in conversion costs.
