In Europe, the Toyota Land Cruiser 200 was removed from the Japanese model range a few years ago because its V8 engine was much too thirsty and, due to its large dimensions, did not really fit in with the times at the time. In other parts of the world, such as in the Orient, on the other hand, it is the cult car par excellence, which even serves as a status symbol and also cuts a fine figure in the desert as an ideal means of transportation. In contrast to most SUV models, it is a real workhorse made from full shot and grain, but it also cuts a good figure on the boulevards of the world. There it does not differ from fashionable trend SUVs, which, in contrast to the L200, quickly reach their limits off-road and actually have no noteworthy advantages over a classic sedan or a station wagon. But as already described above, no one can fool him so quickly in the field, because with all-wheel drive and lockable differentials he can rummage almost everywhere.

SCL body kit on the Toyota Land Cruiser 200

The Russian tuning company SCL Global Concept knows exactly what car-crazy customers from the Arab countries love and has put together an eye-catching restyling kit especially for the Land Cruiser 200, which contains various parts that can also be bought individually. In addition to a completely new bonnet, which comes with two power domes, there is also a new bumper at the rear and at the front in order to bring the sporty attributes of the off-road colossus to the fore. Extremely angular, almost rectangular fender flares ensure a macho, robust appearance, which is almost reminiscent of old off-road swords from the style of a Land Rover Defender or Jeep Wrangler. The side skirts, which are also part of the restyling package, have the additional benefit that they can be used as running boards to facilitate entry into the 1,80 meter high Land Cruiser. But the two spoilers, one of which is attached to the roof and the other is enthroned exactly under the rear window, are, in our opinion, a bit too much of a good thing, as they do not really integrate into the lines of the large SUV. Just like with the two fake exhaust pipes at the rear, less tuning would have been more in this case. Either way, every Land Cruiser owner who tunes his darling with the SCL Bodykit is sure to attract the attention of others, because it is difficult to overlook that such a converted Land Cruiser is a very special piece of jewelry for the owner.

The body kit fits all engines.

In terms of engine technology, the four-wheel drive monster does not have to hide from modern SUVs, by the way, because under the hood either gasoline or diesel hearts beat with 4 to 5,7 liters displacement, which produce between 249 hp and 386 horses. In addition, the maximum torque is between 385 and 650 Newton meters, which means that the all-wheel-drive animal stands well in the forage and can also stand up to many astonished opponents on paved roads. The power is always transmitted via an automatic transmission, which has between 5 and 8 speed levels depending on the version. The top speed ranges from a relatively meager 190 km / h to a sufficient 210 kilometers per hour. In the case of gasoline engines, consumption is heavy with an average of 15-17 liters, which is unlikely to bother customers in certain regions of the world.

Who actually drives such a striking car?

We think that the body kit is mainly found in Russia, the Middle East and the USA, where the Land Cruiser 200 can be found most frequently. In Europe, the SCL vehicle is likely to remain an absolute marginal phenomenon, since it is very rare to find a standard Toyota Land Cruiser 200 in this country, which was sold in Western Europe as the Toyota Land Cruiser V8.
