One thing is certain: the new and old Toyota Supra are extremely popular with tuning specialists. Visitors to the current SEMA Auto Show in Las Vegas in the US state of Nevada will also get the same impression, because countless Supras are presented there that have been refined to the limit of what is feasible. And the Toyota Supra Performance Line Concept model, whose Aero Kit comes from TCD itself, Toyota Customizing & Development, is also visually striking.
Carbon fiber body kit on the Supra
With this concept for the Toyota Supra, the engineers and mechanics at Toyota Customizing & Development focused mainly on aerodynamics. Obviously, it meant saving weight and increasing downforce - drastically. With the new spoiler at the front, on which the significantly larger winglets dominate, this Supra looks a little more evil and self-confident in the car world compared to the series. In addition, the entire car became more massive, because the flanks were covered with mighty aprons. The structural measure improves the downforce and at the same time ensures more ideal control of the air flows. The innovative paneling on the doors also optimizes aerodynamics. In this way, the air is directed to the rear via the side paneling so that the spoiler integrated there can exert even more contact pressure.
Innovative technology in the Supra Performance Line
And visually extravagant are also made of carbon sideflaps on the apron behind. They are found directly on the edges of the bumper and made in the style of the other aerodynamic parts. On top of that, the exhaust system developed by HKS looks under the rear. The brawny tailpipes promise a rich sound, which is exactly what makes this Supra well-suited to audible. The Performance Line Supra also impresses with the black, forged 19-inch aluminum wheels, whose mesh-spoke design fits perfectly with the fast-paced bodywork tuning. The advantage of these wheels is also the lower weight compared to the series. And the fitted Michelin Pilot Super Sport 4S tires give the Supra more grip than standard tires.
No engine tuning - not yet!
Although the Supra Performance Line concept has not yet included an increase in engine performance, the optically first-class tuning should show its effect. The entire driving behavior should be more grippy and more direct. The possible cornering speeds are likely to have increased, as well as the top speed. So that the occupants feel comfortable during rapid maneuvers, Bride seats were also installed at the front for better comfort. When asked, an engineer from Toyota Customizing & Development explained that the Toyota Supra Performance Line was thinking about working in the area of engine tuning in future versions. So it should be clear that more than 340 hp can be expected soon - maybe at the next SEMA Auto Show in November 2020 in the US gambler's paradise Las Vegas or before that.
