Can you still to our report to the optimized turbochargers of TurboZentrum remember from Berlin? The company has now grabbed a Tesla Model S P100D and completely converted it to lightweight construction and of course you have to see it. TurboZentrum is currently still working on the vehicle and has set extremely high goals. This Model S is supposed to be the fastest street-legal Model S on the 1/4 mile and you want to achieve this with a sprint to 100 km / h in under 2,6 seconds and a quarter mile time that comes close to the 10 second mark. The basic vehicle is the P100D, which ex works also has a curb weight of well over 2 tons.
And if you are now wondering where TurboCenter installed its modified turbochargers on the three-phase asynchronous drive, a turbocharger is of course not present on this project 😉 The vehicle runs under the in-house label "Tesla Performance" and this part of the company is on performance optimizations specialized in US electric vehicles. After all, TurboCentrum has long since realized that electric drive is becoming increasingly popular. The highlight of the conversion is the fact that all non-load-bearing body parts are made of full carbon and of the lightweight specialists of Mücke carbon and plastic technology were constructed.
In addition to many kilograms of weight savings (eg front hood instead of 14kg now only 7kg, doors instead of 6,8kg now 3,2kg etc.) also has an aesthetic effect because the vehicle looks like the one recently presented Full carbon Bugatti Chiron, this Dodge Challenger Hellcat and the crazy Full carbon R8 from Mcchip simply spectacular. And you save a lot of weight with the new forged wheel set in OEM size. That means the Model S continues to roll on 8,5 × 21 inches and 9,5 × 21 inches with 225/35 and 245/30 tires. If you look closely you can also see a changed brake system. Here an in-house carbon / ceramic system was installed that grips the front axle with 6-piston Brembo / brake calipers and holds a set of carbon-fiber-reinforced silicon carbide brake discs at the rear using the 4-piston OEM series system.
But the biggest part of the weight saving is the completely stripped interior. All standard panels and insulation are removed and only a lone Recaro full carbon shell seat with Schroth multi-point belt (by G&W car upholstery) is still left. In the course of the year there will be further modifications and we are looking forward to the first videos of the Tesla Model S P100D from TurboZentrum and will of course inform you as soon as we have material. It is best to subscribe to our feed and if there is something new you will be informed immediately. We hope you enjoy looking at the pictures.
