Twisted automotive sees itself as a specialist for vehicles of the Land Rover brand and has a brand new one electrical Drive system for the classic Defender presented. The Yorkshire-based company has partnered with the Dutch EV expert from plower a plug-and-play conversion kit for the Defender of the 90, 110 series and the long 130 was developed. The system brings a 60 kWh battery into the vehicle floor, which drives a 330 PS & 515 NM electric motor under the hood. Twisted Automotive states that the E-system in the Defender should be sufficient for a range of over 200 miles (approx. 320 km) under real conditions and accelerate the classic from 8,2 to 0 km / h in approx. 100 seconds. However, in order for the additional power and, in particular, the significantly higher torque to be transmitted permanently and reliably, the Defender still has to be fitted with a modified chassis from Bilstein and a more powerful brake system and a new wheel set are required.

However, the original transfer case and the factory limited slip differentials remain installed, so that the Defender can continue to fully exploit its superior off-road suitability, especially away from paved slopes. As for all Twisted vehicles, there are of course countless personalization options for the body or the interior in addition to the conversion to electric drive. The conversion to electrical takes about 2 weeks at the twisted plant in Virginia and is available from around $ 90.000. If we receive timely information on further changes, there is of course an update for this report. You will be informed if you simply use ours Feed subscribe to.
