The manufacturer Uljanowski Awtomobilny Sawod (Russian Улья́новский автомоби́льный заво́д (УАЗ) is also known in this country as the "Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant". The brand is particularly shaped by the English translation "Uljanovsky Avtomobilny Zavod", which is also responsible for the abbreviation UAZ. The former Soviet and now Russian automobile manufacturer is based in Ulyanovsk and continues to use this abbreviation in international markets. Cars manufactured by UAZ can be identified by the vehicle identification number X7R. Incidentally, the company is now part of the Sollers Group.
