Unplugged Performance Tesla Model 3 with "Ring Record"!

As we know, offers the US tuner Unplugged performance For a few months now, its Tesla range including installation has also been available directly at the Nürburgring. And now you show what the components can do with a tuned Model 3 Performance. The tuning turns the staid Model 3 into a sports car. And that with relatively few racing modifications. According to his own statements, a customer drove a tuned Model 3 for a time on the ring that is close to the fastest lap time of the Porsche Taycan. And that although the record time of 7 minutes and 42 seconds in a near-series prototype for "four-door fully electric sports car“It's really impressive and has only been around since summer.

But the modified Model S from UR is now taking part after the factory Model S. Plaid drive including three engines and a different chassis, attracted attention. To overtake an expensive Taycan at the Nürburgring? Racing modifications or not, that would be impressive. The performance model from UR had a special chassis, modified brakes (UP BFB kit), new 18 inch UP-03 rims / racing tires and a rear wing. That alone should have been enough to have lapped the Nordschleife in just 7 minutes, 44 seconds and 3 tenths. That would be only 2 seconds slower than the pre-series Taycan from this summer and 26 (!!!) seconds faster than the best lap of Max Kosenko's vehicle from the Czech Republic. At the same time, it would be a new lap record for the Model 3. After the plaid prototype, which incidentally is said to have "clearly" undercut the Taycan, the UP Model 3 is the fastest on the ring so far. And according to UP, the Model 3 Performance drove the time on an open route. So quite normal as part of the Ring tourist trips, which are open to everyone with often disruptive traffic.

For safety reasons, races and timekeeping are "actually" prohibited on the Ring tourist trips. Does the UP know? Apparently not! And we don't know whether UP knows the route and its various configurations. Because on which exact route the self-declared record time was set is unclear. Was it the entire Nordschleife with 20,8 kilometers or “only” the “bridge-to-gantry” variant with 19,1 kilometers? EDIT: It was the bridge-to-gantry variant. Of course, that puts the whole thing in perspective with regard to the Taycan. If we are correct, the Taycan can do this in under 7 minutes. On the other hand, there is still potential. The Model 3 got too hot in two earlier ring laps towards the end of the track. So there was less power available. The driver claims that more cooling could solve the problem and a solution is already being worked on. If we get more information, there is of course an update for this report.
