Carwow has one Drag Race between the brand new Golf R Mk8 and its predecessor, the Golf R Mk7.5 (Facelift) organized. And based on the official specs, you might think it will be a close race. The latest model finally does 320 PS & 420 NM and the MK7 is with 310 PS & 400 NM not really weaker. In addition, the new one is a few kilograms again heavier become. For those who are not so familiar: The MK7.5 is the vehicle in white and the MK8 is the blue one.

In some videos, we've already seen that the 2022 Golf R almost every other car with a 2,0-liter turbocharged engine leaves standing. And apparently the manufacturer's specification is sometimes well below the real value in terms of performance. So is it also faster than its predecessor? And what proportion does the new Siemens control unit have instead of the Bosch counterpart from the previous VWs, Cupras or Audis? The video resolves it (in part)!
