About Volkswagen Motorsport GmbH:
Volkswagen Motorsport can look back on more than five decades of motorsport history. Beginning with the heyday of Formula Vee in the sixties and seventies and the successes in Formula 3, Volkswagen became involved with near-series vehicles such as the Polo, the Golf and the Scirocco on the circuit, in rallycross and rally sport. The brand's greatest successes include three victories at the Dakar Rally with the Race Touareg (2009-2011), four World Rally Championship titles with the Polo R WRC (2013-2016), and two TCR International titles with the Golf GTI (2016, 2017) and three rallycross world championship titles with the Polo (2017, 2018, 2020). With the fully electric ID.R, Volkswagen Motorsport successfully implemented the transition to electric mobility from 2018. Volkswagen holds five international records with the ID.R sports car, including the overall record on Pikes Peak (USA), the electric record on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife (D) and on Mount Tianmen in China.
